Suicide blast kills 10 LI militants in Khyber agency
BARA: A deadly suicide blast at markaz of banned outfti Lashkar e Islam at the time of Juma congregation killed ten militants in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency bordering Afghanistan, political authorities said.
The blast ripped through Dars Mosque cum Madrassa of Lashkar e Islam in Akka Khel area of Bara tehsil, killing ten LI men, the official report said. The bomber was heading towards the markaz of the extremists when intercepted by the LI men who asked him to stop.
The LI men opened firing at him and killed him on the spot. However the explosive materials wrapped around his bodies detonated with big bang, killing ten LI extremists on the spot.
The LI Markaz was run by Yar Walil Khan nephew of head of banned outfit Mangal Bagh. The fate of Yar Wali Khan is still unclear till filing of this report.
The same mosque was targeted by the rival militant group on February 18, 2010 and at least 30 people were killed including an important commander of LI and more than 70 were injured .
