At some point he has to listen to the SPG, he actually doesn't have the authority to put himself in danger to that degree. The SPG are legally bound to protect him and their blue book covers what their remit is.

My Pakistani colleague was shocked to know that Modi will be visiting Pakistan next year. Her reaction was "Modi ka dimag kharab Ho Gaya hai".
But now that our NSAs are in good terms I am assuming Modi will be given a good cover in Pak and Afghanistan.

I don't think one meeting of NSA constitutes "good terms" and even if it does the "deep state" in Pakistan will do what they want.

That said, I don't doubt that all concenred Indian authorities will ensure the PM is safe in Pakistan or he simply won't be attending. If he does go there will be some very elaborate arrangments made for sure, the last time an Indian PM went to Pakistan the NSG deployed in serious numbers alongside the PM's personal security team.

Yes, I saw this at the time, it was not proper IMHO and should have been handled behind closed doors but remember this was during the very early days of his time as PM so he was perhaps a little unused to such intrusive security arrangments.

The biggest casualty would be that our own SPG or perhaps as you pointed Garuds who will be all accussed that they can't cover a multi layer defense ring and protect our own PM and foil any attack by killing terrorists..

It's tough but then not being afraid needs to be shown.. Can't led a rajiv suicide bombing make every Indian pm getting scared.. Certain times hostile territory visits makes it count more with posturing and showcasing the might of a nation

Agreed, it would be a poor show for the PM to be seen to cowering to these scum, all i was saying was that it was a mistake to publicise the PM's movements that far in advance. When Bush visited US troops in Iraq for Christmas no one knew until he was on the ground in Iraq, the same when the British PM has visited Afghanistan a few times.

I'm certain the Afghan and Indian forces are capable of providing adequate to the PM in Kabul. I would not have the same faith in Pakistani security during his visit to Pakistan for next year's SAARC conference.
