Suggestions and Tips for passing a road test.

Happy birthday mate... damm I wish I was 22 again.. oh the joy. Soak it up my friend.

im not in the US & I don’t know when your test is... way I taught my wife ( after she failed twice) was intensive 4 hour long reversing, all sorts of difficult parking , 360 turns, etc etc. but the main thing is..it’s got to be intensive ... that way you relax more and more. And the mrs passed.
But hey this the U.K. .. not sure if it’s easier or harder here.

Thanks for the kind messages, I heard the road tests in the UK and Europe are more harder than in North America(US/Canada) I was told in London its takes like 9 months to even get your license is that true? Over here once you get your permit take test your new license comes by mail in two weeks and good your mrs. passed and to be fair on the test I was excited but lil tense a bit we had two examiners one was random old white dude was quite a douche, other dude was Pakistani, funny I did try to * cheat the test:woot:, by following a dude in my pops car seeing which turns the dude and examiner takes old white dude comes out says go back or no test, went back. Had bad feeling that this white douche would be my examiner, instead my examiner was a fellow Pakee boy, he was fair and stern, I did made mistakes tho too many excessive manuvering so in the end I got 20 points in NYS the fail score is 30 points

Come to Florida for the road test in anywhere in the Broward county. Any dog or cat can pass in less than an hour unless a total moron. NO need to make an appointment with the DMV. They allow walk ins early in the morning.

Its no wonder Flordians are the worst drivers in the states tbh.Tho New Yorkers also suck at driving too

I take that means you can drive anywhere in the states? (After passing a Florida test) must be a lot of car crashes with all them young hillbillies jumping about..( don’t know if Florida has hillbillies... I just like saying hillbillies)

Florida is like its own country tbh, South Florida/Miami/Broward County is filled with Cubans and Hispanics, Hilbillies are mostly in the panhandle while Orlando is mostly filled with retirees from New York or New Jersey and Disney land, Florida also has the worst drivers in the US

Drive anywhere in the US with a Florida license. Make sure that the crash doesn't kill you. The best way to learn is doing. A driver's license gives you that privilege. You will become a good driver after your first 100k miles.
ehheeee I been driving with permit for close to 5 years legal and *illegally plus out of state just was never caught, Heck when I was working on political campaigns I drove the rented U Haul trucks with just a permit
Old Skool .. think you’re mistaking me for OsmanAli98 .. I was just messing in my post about the hillbillies.. I’ve been driving for over 15 years with a clean licence , no points and a no claims 15 year bonus. Perfect if I do say so myself.
Sorry I’m bragging.... then again I’m not sorry.
Lets hope now that I am legal and no kiddie permit I can maintain that

Follow the thumb rule ... SMOG Signal , Mirror , Over the shoulder and Go :) best of luck man

Before I took the test I actually re read this post like 15 times was very helpful Thank You very much
My wife has been driving for 15 years too. However, she did not yet make her first 100k miles and she can not drive on the I-95 or Turnpike freeways. Only local roads all that she drives with a 'clean' driving license.

got you now... damm ..so you got to do 100k before you can drive on a major motorway/ highway... how do they keep a record like that?

Not really
You misunderstood. I never said you needed 100k miles to drive on freeways. It is an indicator of experience instead of years. I drive on highway /motorway at night from the day one ! All I wanted to to say is that number of years do not matter . All it matters it how and how much you drive. A pilot is correctly measured by flying hours and a driver is by mileage. Never by years which mean nothing.
10000 percent agree

We’re getting our wires mixed up here..I understood you.. I know it’s got nothing to do with years.. I referred to the 100k mileage in your post because you wrote;
“However, she did not yet make her first 100k miles and she can not drive on the I-95 or Turnpike freeways”
It’s cool though.. I’ve got it thanks.

1000 percent agree

Congrats. I passed my test on the third time in march 1982 in a clapped out Hillman avenger. Just shy of my 19th birthday. Lot of rubber and fuel has been burnt since.

Where I live most people dont really get their license until like their 20/21 because A.The Economy sucks B.Public Transit is king here 55 percent of NYers dont own a car, even though I been driving for like close to 5 years I had really no urge to get one until 1.My permit was gonna expire and no chance to renew and if you know DMV service is just terrible 2.My job kinda needs a car
Woah.. only 8 Minutes test? mine was around 40 mins.. if i recall correctly (it was 10 years ago)..
eitherway congrats.. and drive safe!
Yeah officially its "10 minutes" but in reality it was bloody mere 5-6 minutes
Yeh mine was about thirty minutes. The theory part was in the car after the test.
woah another planet

I guess the UK is far more stringent than the states.. plus they have been making it more difficult over the years.. though you had the benefit of fewer cars on the road in your days.. so I'm surprised you passed on your 3rd.. (I passed on my 4th, would have passed on the 2nd.. if it wasn't due to an incompetent driver).

How long is pre license courses there and what about getting a learners permit :-) No bribing this aint Pakistan but in general today most folks had like the same time frame 5-6 mins then again the place is near a graveyard and residential so nothing much to test but turns parallel park, broken u-turns hence quick depends on location had I picked somewhere close to home it might be have been lil different but the premise of the test is the same, sadly my pops wont be letting me use his car for some time thinks I have issues and still new "driver" hopefully in the future when I have my own car but thats still distant as insurance is the deal breaker of everything

learners permit? I assume thats provisional licence here.. you can apply for it around age 16, provided you have a good enough eye sight with/without glasses to be able to read a car number plate from a distance of 20m, though you are only allowed to start driving at age 17.

In order to qualify for a full licence, you have to pass two main elements; i) Theory test and ii) Practical test. The theory is done in a local test centre similiar to a school exam setting, the test itself involves 3 main components, a multiple choice test of 50 questions (out of 900+ questions, you have to memorize from the offical DSA guide). The second part is the hazard perception test, which is basically a interactive video playing, and you have to click when ever you see a potential hazard. The last part is a few case study questions.

The Practical test is the final main element, which is similiar to the one you took today, though you have to pass your practical test I believe within 2 years of passing your theory or else, you have to retake the theory test.

I remember my instructor telling me after I passed, to get insured in my dads car so I never forget how to drive.. which I didn't and like you my dad would probably be reluctant having me as a second driver, but to be honest I never really liked driving at the time I found it bothersome, which is why even 10 years later I don't still have a car, but I may be forced to get one in a few years... insurance is quite steep for new drivers yes.. but I guess I won't have that problem now though..

so I'm surprised you passed on your 3rd.
First tests were premature and taken in a hurry. In addition the car was a wreck with gear changes fit for a old Bedford truck and steering heavier then a T-52 tank. My lessons were all near where we lived. The test route/centre was miles from my comfort zone and entirely strange to me. So I was happy with my third pass just before my 19th birthday.

In fact it was a seminal moment in my life. I still rejoice at going out for a cruise with my friend and then coming home to freshly made ghosht karhai and hot piping roti made by my mum. Bless her ...

U.K. is much harder than the US. In the Uk, the 45 minute road test took me through congested narrow streets with lots of pedestrians and cyclists - it was a nightmare. Then they ask you to find your way to some random place like Crawley to test your navigation skills. In the US they make you drive around the block once  ...while the assessor enjoys a nice hot cup of coffee with a nice warm kolache..
