Akira Kurosawa's movies are very old, but really good movies nonetheless.
Rashomon is not for everyone and certainly not for those who just want to enjoy some "cheap, dumb entertainment".
Yojimbo (and Sanjuro) has a great storyline, heard Clint Eastwood's A Fistfull of Dollars was based on it.

If someone is really into "art movies", try all Kurosawa movies!
Yes.. A Fistful of Dollars is based on it. Great music by Ennio Morricone.

Trivia - He and Satyajit Ray were great friends, when a NYT critic slammed Ray's movie then Kurosawa wrote a great review in his defense. I will see if i could find it

Akira Kurosawa once said, "Not to have seen the cinema of Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or the moon."

I remember seeing that movie last year. Really underrated.

I also watched the last part of this movie in my cable, missed the whole. Seemed to me really funny and a like movies of Jim Carrey. So wanted to watch this movie. Overall funny. And lately watching the oldies movies. New movies dont attract me much now.

Same, I've barely watched any recent movies, the most recent one was Dumb and Dumber To. Which wasn't impressive, it's a shame Jim Carrey's career is in a slump right now, I hope he gets out of it soon.

Did I suggest this one already ? I don't know. A good one - 9th Company

It's a Russian movie about Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

from the trailer, seems like the soviet version of things, which is really rare in a world flooded by usa government propaganda films like rambo.

but it also seems a somewhat reflective film like the american films, "apocalypse now" and "the thin red line".

thank you... will watch.

I don't know if translations are available, I had watched it with subtitles.

do post yt link if you saw there, or was it on dvd??
