It seems Stuxnet is meant to manipulate only control system (incl. PLC ladder programming), personal computers of ordinary users, even if infected, would not mean much.

Why only Siemens systems was targeted is a big question?

Germany's Siemens is one of the largest if not the largest producer of induastrial eqipment in the world. I belive the three Gorjes Dam turbines are made by Siemens, correct me if I am wrong. There is only a handful producers in this industry. Almost all the nations have some kind of Siemens equipment is use.

The next big one is probably GE from US.

Siemens industrial system are widely used but even it faces tough competition from Emerson and Honeywell which are also very popular atleast among process control companies. So I am not fully convinced on the reason to target only Siemens.

Maybe our answer lies in the configuration of Busher plant in Iran and what systems are they using the most !

i think the turbines are made by domestic companies. we are the largest supplier of power generation equipment in the world.

I am correcting myself. It was a consortium of Domestic and International companies with technology transfer. Seimens was one of the international ones.

The generators are manufactured by two joint ventures. One of them includes Alstom, ABB Group, Kvaerner, and the Chinese company Haerbin Motor. The other includes Voith, General Electric, Siemens (abbreviated as VGS), and the Chinese company Oriental Motor. The technology transfer agreement was signed together with the contract. Most of the generators are water-cooled. Some newer ones are air-cooled, which are simpler in design and manufacture and are easier to maintain.
