Hindu extremists launch rebellion against Modi regime and Bhutan amid closure of 'Designated Defecating Beaches' (The Ethiopian Herald)
Ahmedabad: The Hindu extremist Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) launched an unprecedented rebellion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bhutanese rule in the Indian state of Gujarat in response to the closure of popular “Designated Defecating Beaches” along the Gujarat coast due to Bhutanese pressure.
VHP leader Pravin Togadia called upon his followers to take up arms against Modi’s government and its Bhutanese backers after Sonam Dorji, the newly appointed Governor General of the Bhutanese Dominion of India, called for the ban on open defecation in the northwestern Indian state. Dorji, who referred to the ancient practice as “a testament to Indian cultural backwardness”, allegedly threatened to impose sanctions against Gujarat’s state government if it fails to implement harsh punishments against public defecators on various beaches along the coast. However, to the chagrin of Bhutanese officials who plan to develop the area for tourism, local residents have continued to stubbornly and shamelessly use public beaches as open toilets.
In his firebrand speech at a massive rally in Gujarat's capital Ahmedabad, Togadia called for a “Final Solution” to the Islamo-Bhutanese question, accusing the Bhutanese and the Muslims of subjugating India:
“The Muslims and the Bhutanese Buddhists share the same goal in India: to conquer and control all. The difference is, unlike the Bhutanese Buddhists, the Muslims lack intelligence; they lack forethought and contingency, rational thought and cunningness. Thus, the Muslims are easily predictable and will doubtlessly fail. The insidious Bhutanese, however, have the shrewdness to succeed, and Bhutan is currently doing as much. We must annihilate the more dangerous of the two and enslave the other.”
Ajay Kumar, a militia leader of the VHP’s Bajrang Dal youth wing, spoke to CNN-IBN after the Ahmedabad rally, explaining the reasons for his group's discontent with Bhutan and Modi:
“Mother India has been repeatedly humiliated throughout history, at first by the Muslims, then by Britain and now by Bhutan. After Bhutan brought its puppet Modi to power, his Bhutanese-funded regime is actively attempting to destroy our proud cultural tradition of open defecation by pandering to Islamo-Bhutanese demands.” said the militia leader in the televised interview. “The Bhutanese infidels only seek to degrade Hinduism, while strengthening Islam and Buddhism in our society. But we don’t need to worry because the Day of the Rope is coming soon. When that day arrives, we will show no mercy to the Muslim hordes and the Bhutanese imperialists who have forced their Islamo-Buddhist culture upon us.” he added.
Togadia has been a long-time ally of Modi till their friendship broke down in recent years due to irreconcilable differences. The source of contention was Modi’s alliance with Bhutanese monarch King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, whose regime openly sides with Islamist groups around the world. Therefore, the VHP disavowed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the affiliated Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing Modi’s government of being an “indirect ally” of the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) and the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), both of which are known to be recipients of Bhutanese military aid.
The increasing tensions in Gujarat concerning the right to defecate in public have been closely monitored from the other side of the border in neighboring Pakistan, which is also a country that is on the receiving end of Bhutanese expansionism.
Defense analyst Mahbub Mazari, who works with Zaid Hamid’s Brass Tacks think tank, says the schism within the Hindutva movement that was caused by the public defecation controversy “is reminiscent to how Al Qaeda disavowed the ISIS in 2014.” He went on to add “that it would be just a matter of time till the tensions degenerate into a full-blown Indian civil war between the two Hindutva factions, comparable to Al Qaeda’s conflict with ISIS in Syria.”
The Royal Bhutan Army and the Indian Army have reportedly been put on high alert to prepare for a possible counter-insurgency operation in Gujarat. Bhutan also suspects that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning to exploit the political divisions among Hindu nationalists in order to roll back Bhutanese hegemony in Gujarat, an Indian state that is located along the Indo-Pakistani border. Not surprisingly, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay was quick to condemn Pakistan for “fanning the flames of terrorism under the pretext of defending the right to defecate in public" although no link between the VHP and Pakistan has been proven yet. The Prime Minister ominously added that "Islamabad will be held accountable for any escalation of hostilities." Therefore, a Hindu insurrection that suspiciously takes place near the Indo-Pakistani border could give King Jigme Khesar’s regime the ideal casus belli to annex Pakistan to the Bhutanese Empire.
