A strong Military is the only thing tht gives a country a dominant Position on the world stage.

But u don't get a strong Military without an even stronger Economy and Manpower.

Resources stockpile and recourse acquisition is the name of the game. And u need to continuously be at the cutting edge with technology ...which also comes through R&d funds (Economy).

I would rather live in a Scandinavian country not having nuclear power than north korea being one.so strong economy leads to more social spending which in turn make people happier.
which one you want to become become? 1.A HAPPY PERSON
2.a person holding an AK-47
it really depends upon YOU!

My view on this is that there are no thumb rules. Every country has to decide what it wants for itself. It is not necessary that economic health must precede military might, thought this will ensure long term viability. A case in point is Russia, except for in recent years, Russia has never been economically viable all through its history. Be it the Tsarist Russia of the 15th century, The Russian Empire or the USSR, the economy has always been a whisker away from bankruptcy. That did not stop Russia from being one of the most powerful nations in Europe, and subsequently, a superpower. All the resources and most of the energy of the nation was diverted towards building an awesome military machine. Another example, though to a lesser degree is North Korea. South Korea is centuries ahead in economic progress, but in case of a war, it will be routed in no time by NK without the support of the US.

On the other side of the spectrum is Japan. An economic powerhouse. Awesome industrial capability, miraculous technological advances, a standard of living of its citizens which is the envy of most of the world but again totally dependent on USA for its security. South Korea falls into this category as do many other wealthy and economically advanced nations of the world.

However, it goes without saying, that where economic progress goes hand in hand with military power, the sustainability of the country is assured in the long run. This is what the US did and what China is doing. Before them it had been the British, French and the Dutch in the 17th to the 19th centuries and Spain and Portugal before that.

Strong military cannot feed the people or can take care of daily necessities.Strong economy is the one which matters most. You can have everything if you have strong economy.

I'd say economy. If you don't have a strong economy how will you feed your people. If you have strong military, but not economy, will you slice F-16s into parts to feed the public.:)
