Knowing that nothing is really national/domestic unless the integrated semiconductor circuit is manufactured by our own engineers and workers, YİTAL is the most strategic establishment among all.
We respect and are grateful to all who contributed.
History:
Foundation of UEKAE; The Electronic Research Unit (EAU), established in 1968 with a group of 5 researchers in the Middle East Technical University Engineering Faculty, was assigned to the Marmara Scientific and Industrial Research Institute (MBEAE, now called Marmara Research Center) in Gebze.
As a consequence of the embargo the country faced after the Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974, the EAU had been informed that the national online crypto device could be developed and the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) decided to support the work to be done in this direction.
With the approval of the Head of the R & D Department of the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), the characteristics of the national online crypto device were submitted to the EAU and four prototype devices were requested.
The first national crypto device called MILON-1 was produced and the prototype was successfully introduced to members of the TSK. This historical work was rewarded in writing with the signature of the Chief of General Staff Communications and Electronic Information Systems.
A protocol was signed between TÜBİTAK MBEAE and MSB Domestic Procurement Department and a total of 77 MILON-1 crypto devices produced in accordance with this protocol entered the TSK inventory.
Between 1988 and 1991, CMOS / VLSI integrated manufacturing technology was developed under the NATO Science for Stability program, and EAU was named as the Department of Electronics and Semiconductor Technologies without organizational change.
Electronics and Semiconductor Technologies Department was transformed into an institute and named National Electronics and Cryptology Research Institute (UEKAE).
UEKAE Cryptoanalysis Center is in operation. In accordance with the protocol signed with the Turkish Armed Forces in the same year, the work of securing the security of TAFICS network was given to UEKAE as a turnkey project. Within the scope of this project, the bundle crypto device MILON-5, which works at the speed of 2Mbit / s, was developed and produced, and the TAFICS Electronic Key Management System, which distributes crypto keys electronically for these devices, was developed and installed. This project was also the largest system project of UEKAE in the country geography at the same time. At the same time, the development of the crypt cell phone MILSEC-1, which provides secure voice communication, was completed and the first production was made.
UEKAE, operating under the Marmara Research Center (MAM), is linked to the TÜBİTAK Presidency.
UEKAE EMC / TEMPEST Test Center activity. In the same year, the first national crypto integrated circuit was produced in UEKAE Semiconductor Technology Research Laboratory (YITAL).
The development of the IP Crypto Device (IPKC-E), which will provide a new dimension to the secure data communication, has been completed and production has been started. In the same year, the Document Inspection Device became eligible to receive the Interpol logo and became the first UEKAE product to be exported abroad. Currently used in our country, the device is actively used in 10 countries including China and Germany.
The development of MILSEC-3, which provides secure voice and data communication in HF / UHF / VHF bands, has been completed and successfully tested on F-16 aircraft.
Installation works of the Public Certification Center (KSM) were completed and put in operation. YITAL has started production of crypto-logic integrated circuit with 0.7 um CMOS technology.
FORESC, one of the products of UEKAE, made its debut for the first time by providing secure communication between a NATO ship and a Russian Federation ship. In the same year, UEKAE successfully produced the design and prototype of the Coast Guard Radar (SAGRAD). The ship radar GEMRAD, which was developed for the MILGEM project in 2007, followed SAGRAD.
The first chip containing the Smart Card Operating System (AKIS) developed by UEKAE is being used for Qualified Electronic Certificates produced by KSM for the first time in our country. In the same year, the Marker Control Device developed by UEKAE for the prevention of fuel smuggling started to be used nationwide.
Cracked USB memory SIR developed and produced by UEKAE has sold 600 units to NATO. SIR is still actively used in NATO. In the same year, the development of Crypto Mobile Phone MİLCEP-K1 was completed and production started.
The development of the IP Crypto Device (IPKC-G), which provides secure communication at 1 Gbit / s, has been completed and production started.
The development of the new Crypto Mobile Phone MICLEP-K2, which is the successor of MICLEP-K1, has been completed and production started.
