Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa rejects calls to demilitarize

Like i mentioned earlier, didn't find any link of any Indian officials preaching Sri Lanka Demilitarization, if you can find do post it here.

India call to withdraw troops rejected

The president of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa, has rejected a request by the all party Indian parliamentary delegation to withdraw military from the Tamil dominated areas, his spokesman said.

Bandula Jayasekara told BBC Sandeshaya that Mr Rajapaksa politiely pointed out that the military is stationed all over the country and "not only in the north,"so it will not be possible to withdraw troops from the north and east.

After a week-long tour during which they met Tamil political and religious leaders as well as civilians, the Indian delegation led by opposition leader Sushma Swaraj had a breakfast meeting with President Rajapaksa on Saturday.

The demilitarisation of the Tamil-dominated north and east were among the issues that were raised by the Indian delegation with the president.

They want to raise LTTE 2.0. Its a rather difficult proposition to do it with the Sri Lankan military around.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised. Always trying to find someway of interfering with the affairs of other countries.

The Indian parliamentary delegation cannot be equated to GOI or Indian MEA. thanks for the source anyway.

So what?? My sentiments for SL Tamils are a separate issue.

So you are a hypocrite. Deal with your own bigoted and racist attitudes towards Tamils first, then preach to others.

And learn to share water and resources with your Tamil brothers and sisters.

Indian members are giving free lectures to other countries... I wonder if these Indians this much active in their own soil then they could have become developed country many years ago... I'm not laughing but most of Indians are day dreamers... no offence! ;)

You need to get your facts re-checked.

Incredible India is a developed country just like the G-8.

I think I agree with the SL mates here. I read two news on SL yesterday night - one was this and another was of interest to me.(but didn't want to open a thread as I have seen many of the SL threads denegerate into troll fest and one of a otherwise rational Indian member getting banned)

Having stated that, the first thought which came to me when I read the news was why would SL want to remove the armies from the North especially with the news a week go that SL found an LTTE era arms cache in the north. Anyone can get hold of similar caches and trigger a insurgency once again.

No it is not!

I hope its not what all Bangladeshis think, or could that be the reason of so many Bangladeshi risk to enter India?

Thank you for your sane views expressed here and lack of blatant preaching.

I am not a hypocrite. If that dam breaks, that will the end of me being an Indian. End of story. Anyways Supreme Court has assured us that the dam is safe and we will make every effort that the dam stands that way.

And learn to share water and resources with your Tamil brothers and sisters.

We are sharing. Thanks for asking.

Not a picnic tour or junket!

Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj today said the all-party Parliamentary delegation to Sri Lanka that she had headed, was not a 'picnic tour or a junket' as being claimed by some political parties in Tamil Nadu.

Visit to Lanka was not a jaunt: it was purposeful claims Sushma

It may have been a gesture of goodwill and trust, but still they can't reflect upon our MEA or GOI stand as Sushma Swaraj as mentioned happens to be Leader of the opposition.

Their opinions like what US congressmen have i.e does not reflect upon the Govt stand.
