LOL whenever i read such articles from INDIAN MEDIA the 126 made in India Rafael deals comes to my mind or the induction of LCA in 2015 or the not selling RD-93 engine thing or the s-400 thing or the 72 hours deadline to PAK thing ...... INDIAN media reports is like when a kid tells his best friend that his enemy kid is buying and XBOX 1 while he still have a PS2 his best friend tells him no he isn't buying it cuz i asked his dad and told him not to do so and they both start celeberating after it

This is how we people love to see ouself boosting our ego where it is not due...I really do not trust these media aricles...Let us understand that Sri Lanka is not Hawaii island of India..Did the author really checked the credibility of the report before publishing it out on major media outet?

The fact that there may be a possibility that Sri Lanka may not go for JF-17...But by proclaiming that just because India told so that cancelled, is just a matter of immaturity on our media which does not know a sensible reporting...It might happen that dues to some genuine reason, Srilanka might have cancelled/postponed the purchase which is not Indian specific...India does not and need to be a reason for whatever happening in our surrounding nations..

Rather than doing this, why do not really understand what makes our friendly neighbor Sri Lanka to buy a fighter jet? What makes them a small nation feel vunerable to us that they start taking alternative route...

They always have fighter jets,even Gun ships,nothing to do with our relations either bad or good.

But as a cultural bond of buddhism and 25 % SL population being Hindu Tamils,India will never be a threat to Lankans,Indian spilled their blood for their Sovereignty and they acknowledge this fact.

This is an opportune missed. I would have liked JF17 in Lankan skies. Considering that Indian intelligence dominate Lanka, it would have been easy for Indians to know its advantages, disadvantages, hell we could have even got their training console (if JF17 had one ).

I second that. SL will not buy Thunder. Sri Lankan's are just abbreviated Indian's so frankly I am lost why Pakistani bother with these people. We might have needed these Lankans when we had Bang because of logistic reasons but 4 decades later chuck these abbreviated Indian's into the same pool - enemy.

And don't ever let India ever get access to Afghanistan. We will win with Afghanistan in the long run. We just got bad blood right now and when it is between brothers it can be very volatile. I hear Pak plans to build expressway to Kabul from Peshawar and extend rail lines. Great. Watch in another two decades. Afghanistan will be tied into Pakistan.

Apparently several Pakistani journalist are calling SL MoD on this and SL gave each one same reply: "We have no comment on this"."Please refer to the statement of Defence Secretary and MFA spokesperson issued earlier".

Well my understanding says the deal linked with any export should also involves the deal with the Russian Kilimov OEM, due the fact, the JF-17 still have the Russian Engine, and for those MRO and maintainance does the Pakistan or China have the capabilities are the right to give to the customer.

On the defence forum and the news front their is lot of confussions and specullation, but on ground there is no such things, so its better to keep aside the patriorism, and jignoism aside and only listen to the official statement of the one who have such authority.

I don know about SL AF but i can tell you that what i heard is USA has been courting Sri lanka to expand into a Blue Water Navy capability over its AF needs. The SL president seems to agree with that and is talking with GOI for a potential 4-6 ships deal. The deal if goes through will help protecting its Economic Zone and also help IN augmenting surveillance and control over the busy Indian Ocean Trade route.

The AF needs was dissuaded as per what i had heard. It is true Sri Lanka AF wanted JF17 or a similar fighter for a budget of $20-22 Mn per jet max but prime objective now seems to be a formidable navy building for the Island nation over its AF needs. The rest of hocus pocus stories we should filter out... SL Prez is clear about Naval needs so i dont think he will consider any AF needs for some time uptill Ships are selected and payments are made..
