How India beat China in auto exports « Swaminomics

You are comparing future with current stats :D

SIAM = Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, so if they say they have $800 million share in SL out of $6 billion of auto exports that's a considerable percentage.

$6 billion to $145 billion Just in 3 years? possible?

Why don't you guys setup a Joint-Venture with the Chinese to service some of that $800 million demand ? :what:

Surely manufacturing it at home & in China would be more beneficial than spending $800 million on importing it from India, the United States or wherever !

u'll also find the past stats in the sites i mentioned..the industry grew by 17% this year and about 26% march-april itself...it may be a blow to indian exports..but thats just exports....we still have lot of demand at home ..and as i said srilanka reconsiders its decision..

There is a one already but most people prefer Japanese vehicles, people don't like to go for Chinese and Indian vehicles.

Another reason for this Tax is 40% of Sri Lankans own any kind of vehicle at their home, expect conflict zone it's 54%. Normally tax on a vehicle between 200%-300%, even with this tax this much of vehicles means more traffic and more environment pollution.

Road traffic in the morning...

If you had bothered to read the link you would have realized that USD 145 billion is not the targeted value of auto exports, but the expected contribution of the auto sector to the economy.

Jokers from SL can't hurt India even if they wanted to.

Another country that manages to grow a pair because China sent some pocket change.

I don't think manufacturing at home would be an answer. Economies of scale in larger, more evolved markets allow for more efficient use of capital in manufacturing activities.

I were mentioning about auto export stats.

If some pocket change can do big progress on our economy then that's a miracle. Sri Lanka does not get freebies from China.

Indeed thats why I said 'Joint-Venture' with China ! Enjoy their economies of scale by dividing work between Sri Lanka & China. But of course a properly intensive feasibility study would determine that.

Yup that sounds like Pakistan most (perhaps 90%) of the private vehicles in our roads are Japanese in origin (the Hondas, the Suzukis, the Toyotas) but they're assembled & partially manufactured here in Pakistan ! We should devolve more of their manufacturing here...unfortunately our governments are corrupt to the core to do anything about this !

i referred to the total capacity of auto industry..u mis interpreted my statement...
it recorded $42 billion this fiscal(mar11-april12)..considering its past record of growth $145 billion is a possible target

usa is the largest auto market to india , not your little island and our exports to your country is increasing at the rate of 8 % , while to that of united kingdom is increasing at the rate of 48% , so even indian auto markets are looking at better destinations which offer us more .
