SpaceX has hit a $100B market valuation

. .
Does SpaceX's revenue depends on launching satellites? What is its revenue in 2020?

Their last known revenue was 2018 which was $2 billion USD. With a $100 billion USD valuation their P:E ratio is 50.

Average US price to earnings ratio (P:E) has been 10-20 for over 100 years (1900-2005 and 2010-2018). But average US P:E ratio expanded to 34 in 2020.

This shows that hot money is flowing into US equities and that there's an equity bubble. Yet SpaceX has even higher valuation than a bubble valuation.

Today's valuations have zero fundamentals.
Tesla produces a fraction of what Toyota or GM produces or sells yet its valuation is so much higher. Some folks would argue that its well placed for future orders. But giants like Toyota and Honda are not asleep in electric car production.
Crypto is the same. All hype and nothing tangible

Stock market is a nonsense idea ( it is gambling ) even if SpaceX is a part of it.

They aren't. It is a private company.

The valuations are estimates of what price another company (say Apple) should pay if they were to buy it in it's entirety. It takes into consideration assets and future revenue.

Gold and art sells for millions too
As long as rich want to buy something it will have value

Thus cryto(bitcoin ans ether) at least will have value

Unless govt bans it

Now if u regulatory authority allow index funds formed around ether ans bitcoin
It will cause instant 100% up valuation

Once that happen it will be time to sell these as valuation wont go up much afterwards and volatility will disapear too

That's why I was surprised because I knew about a few years ago SpaceX saying it will be a private company.

Thanks for the explanation. I am non-conversant with Capitalist economics. :D

I remember an old interview of Elon with Sarah Lacy from Pando Daily. She asked him what SpaceX's valuation might be and IIRC he said two billion.
