K-pop boy band BTS edged out four other nominees to win as Best Korean Act in the 2015 MTV EMA.
The winners in different regions were announced on Oct. 15.
BTS, composed of Rap Monster, Jin, Jungkok, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin and V, emerged as the winner against GOT7, VIXX, B1A4 and G-Friend.
Vietnam’s Son Tung M-TP, on the other hand, was voted as the winner in the Best Southeast Asia Act over the Philippines’ James Reid and Nadine Lustre, Malaysia’s Faizal Tahir, Indonesia’s NOAH, Thailand’s Slot Machine and Singapore’s The Sam Willows.
“I’m really thrilled to learn that I’ve just won Best Southeast Asia Act for the 2015 MTV EMAs and I’ve made it to the next round to compete for Worldwide Act: Asia. Thank you to my fans and supporters! Please keep your votes coming!” said Son Tung M-TP.
BTS and Son Tung M-TP are now competing for the Worldwide Act-Asia against Jane Zhang of China, idol group Dempagumi.inc of Japan and Jay Chou of Taiwan.
The MTV EMA will be held on Oct. 25 (Oct. 26 in Manila) in Milan, Italy. Performers are Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran & Rudimental, Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo, twenty one pilots, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Jess Glynne and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
