Sonam Kapoor plays PanAm flight stewardess Neerja Bhanot in the film. The film has been banned in Pakistan for showing the country in a negative light.
Neerja Bhanot, a flight attendant on board a Pan Am Mumbai-New York flight, who was shot dead by terrorists during the hijacking while trying to save the lives of passengers.

Advertisements of the movie in some newspapers had shown its release across many cineplexes and single screen theatres in Pakistan on February 19 but it has emerged that the ministry of commerce had initially authorized the import of the film but later changed their decision.

“The ministry issued us a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to import the film and bring it to Pakistani territory but later on revoked the NOC,” an official with IMGC Entertainment said.

Mobasher Hasan, who heads the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), said that the decision to not allow import of the film had come from the information and commerce ministry.

Pakistan had earlier banned big banner Indian films like Haider, Phantom and Ek Tha Tiger.

Indian films have done well in Pakistan since a ban on their screening was lifted during the tenure of former military dictator and President Pervez Musharraf.

Bollywood movies are generally credited for the film business booming again in the country and also leading to a revival of the Pakistani film industry.

so Pakistani moves don't have Muslims villain!!??
now i know why Pakistanis prefer Bollywood over pakistani movies.. :P

Is the movie banned because of showing Muslims in bad light or depicting Pakistan in a negative light ? If the movie is showing any community in bad light then it should be banned in India also.

Pakistanis will watch this movie anyway. Piracy zindabad.

Showing terrorists who hijacked plane is not acceptable to Pakistan?

Pakistan should make movie on Samjhota express terrorist act of Indian Hindus to start with.

If India ban Pakistani media and media person then Pakistan should do the same.

This keeps happening, It seems very much like Pakistan is trying to manipulate Bollywood into making movies that do not propagate India's point of view. This is the same game with journalists who are refused access and visas if they write anti Pakistan articles.

The only way to stop this, is to bring out at least two big budget completely and unabashedly anti Pakistan movies every year and make sure they are box office success. We can't have the tail wagging the dog every time. :enjoy:
