What's new

Some pictures i took on my yatra from amritsar to anandpur sahib

Man so much similarities between the name of places- traditions- cultures- some time i do wonder -

there is a lot of similarity between amritsar and lahore. we have lahori gate, hall gate, shera wala gate, khazana gate, hathi gate etc. i think you also have gates in lahore. names of many bazars are also similar

Beautiful pics, nice to see modern architecture being reined in to not deprive the places of their essence.

Can't talk about of the spiritual side, but maybe you could after having visited.

In Arabic. The 4 Quls - the 4 last surah's of the Qur'an. And on top the first aayah (bism illaah) along with two names on the corner.

What is the connection here? Can anyone please explain how the sufi saint's dargah came to be located in the premises of the Anandpur Sahib?

it is said if someone is visiting anandpur sahib which is holy city for pilgrimage he has to visit dargah of pir otherwise his pilgrimage is not complete. as there aint many muslims in the city this dargah is looked after by the sikhs like many other shrines in punjab

To be precise the dargah is actually adjacent to the Gurudwara. But you shouldnt be surprised even if it was located inside. Punjab was a common land shared by Hindus, Muslim and Sikhs alike. The Sikh gurus teachings were heavily influenced by the Muslim Sufi saints of the time. Some like Sufi Baba Farid are revered by Sikhs.

Its nothing unusual.

The Saibaba of Shirdi who was actually a Muslim sufi saint has a huge madir dedicated to him in Shirdi along with all the other HIndu Gods and inside the temple complex you also have a dargah and all the Hindus wo visit the temple also make it a point to visit the dargah also.

Another case is the Sabarimala temple in Kerala dedicated to Lord Ayyappa has a dargah dedicated to a Muslim warrior Vavar who was friend of the Lord and all the devotees who go to Sabarimala to pray to the Lord also visit the dargah.
