So, what happens to Imran Khan now ?

First off, sorry in case this is a dumb question but I've just not had the time to research the entire saga thats going down now, nor am I familiar with the Pakistani system of governance.

So, very simply, does he just go back to being a 'senator' (was he even one to begin with?) or whatever you call the local reps there or does he disappear entirely from the political landscape up untill, should he choose to, make a comeback as the party's main candidate the next time elections come around ?
