So i visited Iran first time...

As sanctions fall and we found common ground it is most likely that Iran will need hundreds of new civilian aircrafts. And its most likely, that they will opt for Airbus. We did already send spare parts for their elderly machines and had some negotiations for future deals. We had an invitation to Tehran and Shiraz and i was part of the team and assisted.

I was there 5 days at end of july and i must say i enjoyed it very much. People were nice, food was great. I did not understand evrything but think i got an oversight.

It was interesting to see that tehran faces the same problem we have at napoli.

And some nice women over there as well. ;P

That said i hope evrything turns out good and we see some Iran Air A350 soon.

Well...we had a tight schedule but also some room to explore the cities and areas around them.

We arrived with one of our A350 pre-production aircrafts and many of the airport staff were very interested in the airplane. We gave them some tours as well through the machine. They also showed us their machines and i have respect for that. Some of those 747 SP were build when my dad was a kid. They belong in a museum but they keep them flight ready.

Some of the tech they showed us is basicly ancient. I only know our current "fly by wire" tech, so it was kinda awesome to see that.

The airport at Tehran looked nice too. It did not look very old. I guess they just build it new?

We had a women who did guide us evrywhere. She explained us evrything, translated and so on. She spoke perfect english and even italian. I must say i was impressed. But i did not expect that they would send a women. I thought its more strict.

The hotel was awesome and you had great view over Tehran and those mountains. Damavand (hope i said that right) looked awesome. I talked with out guide and she said its not inactive. We had some debate about how that is a srious problem in Tehran, similar to our Vesuvius at Napoli. Is it true, that you guys think about moving the capital to another city because of that? She said tehran is at high risked to be hit by earthquake and volcanic eruption.

The food was nice as well. But well it was funny. First day they gave us Pizza and Pasta and stuff. I guess they simply believed thats what italians eat. So we said. "come on guys" we did not come iran to eat pizza. Give us some stuff from here.

We also visited that tower (forgot its name).

Shiraz was nice as well. Much calmer than Tehran. The people were more chilled too.

We visited Persepolis. Was really cool there.

All in all i´m sure we saw not that much in those few days but i guess was ok for that few days. We had not much contact with the locals and the two hotels were very western in style and service.

So you only visited Tehran and Shiraz? You have missed a lot, you should have also visited Isfahan, Tabriz, Hamedan, Yazd and many other areas.

I hope so that Damavand stays dormant. We have the experience in italy that the longer a Volcano "sleeps" the worse it ends. We have that problem (volcanos and earthquakes) too in italy. I think Japan is best in constructing buildings to withstand earthquakes. We learn alot from them.

When we were at Persepolis she told me that my ancestors under king Alexander burned it down. I told her that Alexander was macedonian and not roman. And she said: "We don´t care. You are all the same for us"

She made alot of jokes. So i guess that was one too. ^^

Well we will see how all this ends. I think Airbus has best options for Iran. And i thik we can agree that Iran needs new airplanes. They did a great job to hold those old things together, but that wont work any longer.

Also i believe Iran belongs to the west. The current state was unnatural. Imagine what you can gain with tourism alone.

What i did not get was, how are dress codes over there? I mean it seemed pretty laid back. If Iran openes up for the west i guess those dress codes would not be for tourists?
