Snowfall back in November 2014 near Al-Zulfi in the nearby desert. Some 260 km northwest of Riyadh.

Looks surreal.

Desert, greenery and snow. A nice and unique combination not often seen!

Snow in Northern Hijaz (Tabuk area). An yearly occurrence during winter.

Yes, KSA is a country of many hidden pearls. An unknown kingdom indeed. I guess that this is part of the charm for people unfamiliar with KSA and most foreigners in general.

In other news floods/heavy rain have occurred in numerous regions of KSA in the past 10 days as well.

Your article is from January 2016.

Nothing unusual in Northern Saudi Arabia there is snowfall in this time of the season...

Actually Northern KSA receives some of the largest amounts of snow in the MENA region on average. Some of the coldest temperatures in the region have also been measured in this part of the MENA region. Of course there are other regions that receive more snow on average and where the temperatures are even lower but not that many.

As for the remaining GCC, Egypt etc. snow is almost unheard of. As is the case in many areas of KSA. However due to KSA being a huge country (12th largest in the world) with many different landscapes, many mountain regions and local climates (depending on the season of course) the weather is more varied.

Also have in mind that temperature differences even in the middle of the summer in arid regions or desert regions can change dramatically. We are talking, sometimes, a difference of 35 degrees celsius between day and night. Humidity is also not a big factor in most of KSA other than the coastal regions which also helps greatly.

most blessed land on earth.. land of our prophet (PBUH)

You are welcome.

Yes, during the winter. Especially the mountainous areas of Northern KSA and the countryside in those regions of KSA. It snows every year (practically) in such places. See post 10.

Anyway personally I am not that big a fan of snow or cold weather to be honest with you. I prefer warm weather.:enjoy:
