The slithery intruder was sighted writhing at a train station at Doonside, a western Sydney suburb, earlier today.

Trains coming from the city were made to skip platform 3/4 while transport workers and Blacktown Fire and Rescue NSW crew kept passengers out of 'harm's way.'

'We contacted the appropriate authorities to handle the snake however it slithered away on its own before they had arrived,' the Sydney Trains spokesperson said.

In a Twitter post, Trains Info said it was unable to confirm the type of snake before it made its escape.

'We weren't able to confirm the species... but we took every precaution in the event that it was venomous.'
