Post some development news and thoughts. Basically, the major news I've found:
Narendra Modi may announce R&D institutes for biotech, pharma & auto in partnership with private companies - Economic Times
Sushma Swaraj to travel to Singapore, smart city project on agenda - The Economic Times
Sistema JSFC plans to develop Narendra Modi’s Smart City project - The Economic Times
PM Narendra Modi to kick off pan-India financial inclusion plan in late August - The Economic Times
Odisha Submits Its List of Smart Cities to Centre -The New Indian Express
India's push for 100 smart cities has tech firms scrambling for contracts - TechRepublic
Railways, road projects to get green nod locally - The Economic Times
Bold Initiative to Finance Property, Infrastructure -The New Indian Express
Will fully follow SC directives on Ganga clean-up: Bharti | Day & Night News
As I said earlier, these massive and ambitious projects are underway, though mostly behind the scenes - as they should be. The last thing India needs is Congress, Mayawati, NGOs and all the other idiots who make money by ruining India to stall projects out of false humanitarian concerns, for example. The biggest issue I see, though, is that local governments outside of places like Maharashtra and Gujarat (and even in those states) are extremely inept. These projects will require extensive federal oversight.
Personally, the smart cities idea is brilliant to reduce the stress on our mega urban centers like Mumbai. Such smart planning will also do a lot of good for India's longterm defence strategies. In short, I'm really excited.
Also, I plan on starting such threads weekly.
