Slap on Apple's Face by Samsung

It'll take probably a few months to gather 20 billion nickels from different banks if there are that many around. Each bank branch carries at most a hundred rolls around each day.

This morning more than 30 trucks filled with 5-cent coins arrived at Apple’s headquarters in California. Initially, the security company that protects the facility said the trucks were in the wrong place, but minutes later, Tim Cook (Apple CEO) received a call from Samsung CEO explaining that they will pay $1 billion dollars for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company in this way.

The funny part is that the signed document does not specify a single payment method, so Samsung is entitled to send the creators of the iPhone their billion dollars in the way they deem best.

This dirty but genius geek troll play is a new headache to Apple executives as they will need to put in long hours counting all that money, to check if it is all there and to try to deposit it crossing fingers to hope a bank will accept all the coins.

Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, told the media that his company is not going to be intimidated by a group of “geeks with style” and that if they want to play dirty, they also know how to do it.

You can use your coins to buy refreshments at the little machine for life or melt the coins to make computers, that’s not my problem, I already paid them and fulfilled the law.

A total of 20 billion coins, delivery hope to finish this week.

Samsung Pays Apple $1 Billion Sending 30 Trucks Full of 5 Cents Coins - Paperblog

I think Samsung should be shamed on doing this and claiming themselves as decent professionals. I think now their values in peoples eyes will going to loose a lot.

Its my policy that I don't open my mouth if I don't have any knowledge of the subject, Its a advise that you should do the same specially after becoming think tank.

Samsung manufactures its products in India and I was specially talking about phones as this thread is meant for that only.

Now, for your knowledge:

Following is from the official Samsung website:

Samsung began operations in India through its manufacturing complex located at Noida (UP) in 1997. This Complex today houses state of the art facilities for Colour Televisions (including 3D, LED and LCD Televisions), Mobile Phones, Refrigerators, Washing Machines and Split Air Conditioners categories.

The Noida facility is ranked as the Number One amongst all Samsung subsidiaries in terms of delivering the highest productivity for Colour Televisions, Refrigerators and Mobiles. :woot: :yahoo::devil:

To help respond better and faster to the growing demand for its products in the Southern part of the country, Samsung commenced operations of its second state–of-the-art manufacturing complex at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu in November 2007. Today, the Sriperumbudur facility manufactures Colour and LCD Televisions, Fully Automatic Front Loading Washing Machines, Refrigerators and Split Air Conditioners.

Samsung India is working with and contributing to the development of the domestic component industry in the country. The Company is working with its partners to improve their product quality and processes. Thus, Samsung vendors are sent to different Samsung subsidiaries to meet the Samsung overseas vendors in order to benchmark their own processes. All the components used by Samsung for manufacturing its products are 'eco friendly' as per ROHS norms.

"We are exporting to SAARC countries and about 1-3 per cent of our volumes (from India) are being exported. We are looking at making India an export hub and soon we will start exporting to geographies like Middle East and African countries," Samsung India Country Head (Mobile and IT Business) Ranjit Yadav told PTI.

The aim is to ramp it up to 10 per cent, but no timeline has been fixed, he added .

The India facility is in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Its capacity has recently been tripled from 12 million units annually. Samsung has invested USD 70 million (about Rs 315 crore) for the expansion.

The company manufactures multimedia, dual sim and touchcreen models at the Noida facility, which was set up in August 2007. About 60 models are manufactured here.

It has also added 1,500 employees at the facility, taking its total headcount for mobile phone unit to 4,000 people.

Samsung has been catching up fast with its Finnish competitor Nokia on the back of a strong growth in smartphones and feature phones in India.

It is only because of the Googles and Microsofts of this world that you have the stupid, crippled iPAD at $499--without it, it would have been much more.
Spread the word. Fight Apple for the future of computing and technology!

Well done, Samsung, btw! I own a Samsung Focus S running Windows 7 and I simply love that. I own a Google Nexus 7 tablet and I love that too. Apple would have made us believe they are the only one who 'innovate' but they are wrong. Very wrong!

Dude, i have been using the iPad (1) for a year. I have slept over it, dropped it over ceramic floor (multiple times, on all angles) and my younger cousin pulled off its LCD screen protector a few months ago. There is NO protection over it of ANY sort.

Yet, its touchscreen gives me the liveliest feeling of all. Though it got two scratches over it, and the body has been damaged from the corners , but I love it. I have operated the SII and the galaxy tab. Trust me, they don't even come close to iPad's performance. And if you dont like the limitations, jailbreak it! it works perfectly!

Dude, we just became sworn enemies!

Play dirty politics, I'll probably bite you.
Sully Apple, I'll certainly kill you :mamba:

Apple is crap, only fits some girls having fetish for designer gadgets and loves to flaunt them. Real geeks goes for Android, and they're economical too.
