Sir Jadeja becomes No. 1 ODI bowler, India stay at top of ODI rankings

New Delhi: India's left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja now shares the No. 1 position
on the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers, alongside West Indies' offspinner Sunil
Narine, by leaping four places after his performances in India's 5-0 whitewash on
the Zimbabwe tour that concluded on Sunday.
The feat makes Jadeja the first Indian to become the top ODI bowler since Anil
Kumble in December 1996. Overall, the left-arm spinner is the fourth Indian
bowler after Kapil Dev (March 1989), Maninder Singh (December 1987-November
1988) and Kumble to claim the number-one spot.
The Zimbabwe tour also proved a big one for India's leg-spinner Amit Mishra who
jumped 47 places to 32nd spot after bagging a record 18 wickets in the series.
Meanwhile, India's 5-0 series win over Zimbabwe has helped them strengthen
their position as the number-one ranked team on the Reliance ICC ODI Rankings.
Though the series sweep earned India just one ratings point to help them finish at
123, they now have a lead of nine ratings points over number-two ranked
Australia.
Meanwhile, South Africa and Sri Lanka have swapped places with the Asian side
moving into fourth place after gaining three ratings points through their 4-1 ODI
series win at home. South Africa slipped to fifth after conceding five ratings
points.
In the Reliance ICC ODI Player Rankings for batsmen, Sri Lanka's Kumar
Sangakkara has achieved a career-best rating of 829 points and has equalled his
best-ever ranking of third after finishing as the highest run-getter in the ODI
series against South Africa. Sangakkara, who last claimed third position in 2005,
scored 372 runs from five matches at an average of 93.
Tillakaratne Dilshan is the other major gainer, moving up two places to the sixth
spot. Others to make upward movements include Suresh Raina in 17th (up by
one), Shikhar Dhawan in 23rd (up by 16), JP Duminy in 27th (up by three) and
Lahiru Thirimanne in 52nd (up by 10).
The batting table is still headed by South Africa's Hashim Amla with his captain
AB de Villiers in second place.

India remain at top in ODI rankings - The Times of India

DUBAI: India have retained their top position in the ICC ODI team rankings table while Virat Kohli remained the highest-ranked Indian batsman at the fourth spot in the latest list issued on Sunday.

India, who have been in the number one position since February 2013 when they beat England 3-2 at home to regain the top place, have 123 rating points to their credit, ahead of Australia (114) and England (112).

While Kohli managed to maintain his position in the ICC Player Rankings for ODI Batsmen, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni also retained his seventh spot in the top-10 list, which still has South Africa's Hashim Amla sitting at the top.

Meanwhile, the bowlers' chart is still headed by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja with 733 points.

Jadeja will have the first shot at an outright lead at the top of the tree when he's expected to take the field against Australia in Pune on October 13.

West Indies' Sunil Narine continues to lead the bowlers' table, followed by Saeed Ajmal of Pakistan in second place and England's Steven Finn in third spot.

In the ODI All-rounders' list also Jadeja has remained at third position, while Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez has gained four points to reclaim the number-one ranking.

Hafeez, who won the player of the series award for his 232 runs and two wickets in Pakistan's 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in three One-dayers, has leapfrogged Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson and Tillakaratne Dilshan after earning 26 ratings points.
