Singapore Navy ordered eight LMVs from the ST Marine shipyard. All vessels are expected to be fully operational by 2020
Singapore launches its second Littoral Mission Vessel, which includes Rafael's Mini-Typhoon weapon stations, according to the asian-defence-news website. This is part of a project to acquire eight LMVs, which are expected to be fully operational by 2020.
The LMV has been jointly designed by Saab Kockums AB and ST Marine, and is being built in Singapore by ST Marine, according to Janes. Singapore's Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) is the overall manager and systems integrator for the program. The LMV is fitted with a stern-facing Rafael 25 mm Typhoon gun system. It does not have an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capability.
The LMV is designed to accommodate the Protector USV (also made by Rafael), the Scan Eagle UAV and the REMUS autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).
