Sindh govt turns down Punjab's relief offer

LAHORE / RAWALPINDI: The Sindh government has turned down the relief aid offered by the Punjab government for the people of Tharparkar, sources told Express News on Saturday.

Drought in Tharparkar has claimed at least 122 children in the last three months.

On March 7, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken serious notice of the appalling number of child deaths.

Separately, Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had taken suo motu notice over the death of children due to acute malnutrition.

Observing that this is a serious violation of Article 9 of the constitution, the chief justice had said he may initiate proceedings to ensure the fundamental rights of the population of district Tharparkar under Article 184(3) of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, Sindh High Court Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar had also taken notice and called for comments from the National Disaster Management Authority chief, the provincial chief secretary and secretary food, agriculture and livestock departments.

Army dispatches units, relief goods

Following directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Army on Saturday dispatched troops from the Hyderabad Garrison for the affected areas of Tharparkar.

An ISPR release said that contingents are carrying immediate relief goods and rations.

Staff of medical camp is also going with them to affected areas with lady doctors, paramedical staff and medicines.

How is that turns down?

Seems like Pakistani govt who cares where they are stationed at took actions.... :tup:
 
Political parties will try to bribe these poor people to their side. Specially ganja gang has a lot of money to spend. I say only allow Army to go in there.
