Ibad has been replaced by a former chief justice of Pakistan, Justice Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui. Siddiqui was among the aspiring candidates for the post of president in 2003 and 2008.

Siddiqui confirmed the development while talking to DawnNews, saying he is going to assume the office. He said that restoration of law and order in Karachi would be his first priority.

"I will try my best to address the issues of people," he said.

"I believe that maintaining peace in Karachi is the joint responsibility of both the provincial government and the governor. If peace is maintained in the city, businesses will flourish and people will take a sigh of relief," he said while emphasising the need of peace in the province.

He said that after taking oath he will review the issues of funds and powers so as to put the matter of local government in order.

"We also need to look into the political divisions in the city so as to utilise political segments in order to resolve problems of the people."

He said Ibad was removed due to "recent controversies".

The decision to replace the governor was taken by the federal government. The governor's office declined to comment on the matter.

Ishratul Ibad
Ishratul Ibad began his political career as a worker of the All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation when he was studying in Karachi’s Dow Medical College.

Ibad contested the general elections in 1990 on a provincial assembly constituency as a candidate of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-backed Haq Parast group and became a minister in the Jam Sadiq Ali cabinet.

He went underground to avoid arrest after an army operation was launched against the MQM in June 1992 and surfaced a year later in London, where he obtained political asylum.

While he was very close to Altaf Hussain, he maintained a low profile in the MQM until 2002 when he became the acting convener of the MQM’s coordination committee after Altaf Hussain removed then convener Dr Imran Farooq from the post.

He was considered as "man of crises" among MQM cadres.

Ibad became Sindh’s youngest governor on Dec 27, 2002 as a representative of then president Gen Pervez Musharraf. He has served as Sindh governor for nearly 14 years.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the name of Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui to be appointed as the 31st Governor of Sindh, Express News reported.

The decision for the change of Sindh governor was reportedly made during a recent meeting between the president and the prime minister. The appointment will be notified by President Mamnoon Hussain on PM Nawaz’s advice, said the official sources.

Talking to a private news channel on Wednesday, Siddiqui, , who is a former chief justice of the Supreme Court, confirmed that he has been offered the position of Sindh Governor. He said that restoration of law and order in Karachi would be his first priority. “I will try my best to address the issues of people,” he said.

Sindh governor provides ‘oxygen’ to evil forces, including Altaf: Kamal

The retired SC judge will replace Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, who was recently engulfed in a controversy after Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Syed Mustafa Kamal hurled several accusations at him during a press conference in Karachi.

Kamal Kamal alleged that Khan was in contact with and assisting Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founding chief Altaf Hussain and leader Farooq Sattar. He went on to call the governor ‘rishwat-ul-Ibad’, alleging that Khan would never miss any chance of taking bribes in cases such as land grabbing.

Good. Lots more garbage to remove ..

That is called a BIG CHANGE, now the next election will be the most interesting thing and with this whole political scenarios Karachi will be the one ground for big games. With MQM broken into pieces PTI and Jamate Islami gonna sweep some broken votes and then PPP like always gonna win from rural areas of SINDH. Then the coalition required will be the most interesting thing !! lets see what happens next........

There are chances he will be joining Farooq Sattar and then both will enjoy under the leadership of Pervaiz Musharaf (NRO culprit). He was no more required as Governor as he already played his part for shifting the power center from London to Khi.

That's one wishful thinking, MQM's vote bank draws a lot out of necessity, Urdu speaking community will vote for MQM, be it Altaf or be it Farooq Sattar. Mushi jumping over as MQM head may also help them clinching most of the lost ground.

Sindh ...
lolz.
edited the post already. Wrote KPK by mistake :P

Though that seems quite likely as well :)

Oh and BTW, agree with your assessment about Sindh.

They are broken now but yes urdu speaking people think that they will be killed if MQM goes down, this is the mindset. other thing is they will not have seats like they used to have, major coalition is not quite possible.

So far he's denying that he's been fired

Only old dying mummies are left in Pakistan to sit & run key positions in Pakistan. Gadari party did it & now ganja league is doing it.
