Edhi Foundation is expanding its air ambulance fleet with fixed wing aircraft. Should the Edhi Foundation consider buying C-44 gyrocopter air ambulance for future purchases? While the fixed wing aircraft can carry 6 people, if it is being used to only carry one or even two passengers at a time, it may not be cost effective in rescuing as many persons at a time.

Its considerably cheaper then either fixed wing aircraft or traditional helicopters, but is limited to one patient at a time. On the other hand, it's small size may allow it to operate from small village roads and short natural disaster damaged landing zones.

. . .
Do you think that's cost effective in the long run?
It could be relatively cheap, has basic avionics system, still flown in 30+ air forces, lots of spares and proven med evac helicopter.

Has 6-stretcher med evac capability. Don't need to send in 2-3 choppers to rescue 3 or more wounded.

That's true, definitely can carry a lot more patients. We would have to find out how many patients Edhi Transports in a planned medivac. Depending on the number of patients, we can break the costs and maybe a mixed fleet would be optimal.

Unless the military can co-own the helicopters, providing the pilots and Maintenance, and The Edhi Foundation paying for the Medical supplies and fuel when in civilian use.

Do you think the PA would want to operate Hueys with the risk of US stopping spares? maybe an alternative Helicopter should be considered?

There are already Bell-series in service with PA as well as Sikorsky. Bell 412 as well as 206 and S-300C.
UH-1 has civilian versions also.
