Mossberg has slowly developed a name for themselves in the arena of rifles over the last few years. The introduction of their MVP rifle was an accurate bargain for those pursuing to do target and varmint shooting at moderate distances. The Patriot has also sold well as a nice, factory-packaged rifle for big-game hunters. Now to appeal to the growing audience of consumers trying precision rifle shooting, they have produced the MVP Precision!

The Mossberg MVP Precision boasts an in-house designed, aluminum chassis that is M-LOK compatible. The stock may look familiar because it is an adjustable LUTH-AR™ MBA-3 which shares the chassis with a Magpul® MOE+® grip.

MVP Precision from the flood of other precision chassis rifles on the market (at least those chambered in .308 Win) is this variant accepts nearly any magazine you may own: AR10, M1A, SR25-style or M14.

This rifle will be initially chambered in both .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor for consumers. Two very likely suspects when it comes to precision rifle shooting.

Both caliber offerings feature a threaded barrel (5/8″ x 24 TPI) to allow for the ability to add a silencer or other muzzle device. The 6.5 Creedmoor in particular was given more deliberate care because it employs a 4140 Carbon Steel barrel that is Button Rifled with 5R Rifling.

The aluminum chassis that we eluded to earlier, is in fact, produced by Mossberg and not some unknown source. Mossberg best sums up what went into the development and production of their chassis:

Mossberg went back to the drawing board to design its own modular aluminum chassis system. Similar to an AR-rifle “inline” design, the Mossberg chassis more efficiently handles recoil and lessens internal stress as energy is transferred in a straight line between the barrel and action to the buffer tube/stock; inherently increasing accuracy and the ability to maintain your sight picture. Constructed of lightweight aluminum with a durable anodized finish, the Mossbergchassis provides a solid base for repeatable, precision-accuracy.

Both the chassis and barrel have a matte blue finish for consistency throughout the rifle. This rifle also utilizes Mossberg’s Lightning Bolt Action™ (LBA™) Trigger System which is user adjustable from 3 – 7 Lbs in pull. The chassis houses the LBA Trigger with an over-sized trigger guard for potential gloved-shooting and has an over-sized bolt handle as well. The 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win will come with a Magpul P-Mag® 10-round magazine.

The MVP Precision uses a Magpul MOE+ pistol grip which should be quite common to most shooters, but still is popular because of its angle, texturing and useful storage core. The addition of a LUTH-AR MBA-3 carbine butt-stock creates boundless customization for the shooter. The shooter can account for length-of-pull, right cast, left cast, vertical adjustments, lateral adjustments and a picatinny bottom allows you to add a rear mono-pod or other accessories if you so desire.

All-in-all, this looks to be a solid rifle for consumers. The MVP Precision should get lots of coverage throughout SHOT Show week now that it is finally here including from TFB.

At the time of this writing, we unfortunately only have the one photo to tantalize and provide you with. Look for more to be in circulation now that Mossberg has formally announced this new rifle.

Here are some final thoughts from Mossberg on the MVP Precision rifle for .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor:

Mossberg proudly delivers an AR-compatible, long-range tactical bolt-action rifle with the precision-driven features required to ring steel at 1000 yards and beyond – the MVP Precision Rifle.
