My mother is a thoroughly modern Muslim woman, head of a household of 14 and she never cared much for the Burqa even though she wore Hijaab for 7 years in Europe and America and Saudi Arabia since she is a Professor. Later she said to Hell with it. I think Muslim women are climbing ladders and again masculine business/political world is putting BS spotlight on Hijaab and cultural dressings. Unke ** ** *****

Personal choice is personal choice. For everything else there is Master Card and MIND YOUR OWN DAM BUSINESS>

Same is with my Mother who is a Practicing , veil observing women , a great mother and social women.

Taking all of that into account one would think that she does not work - she does but while sitting at home doing normal day housework + Business dealing with a great amount of money.

Both of your mums deserve praise and respect. However the choice as i have stated of wearing a hijab is a necessity for Muslim women, as it preserves their modesty. it has nothing to do with being left behind or not being able to do jobs that other people do. One must understand the reason why islam projects segregation. It is to root out any chance of a lady being harrassed considering we live in a world occupied by all sorts of people good and bad.Allah's principle is to not let a situation arise where a Gunnah can be committed. Provided these rules are followed, women are free to go and do what they want. Second thing i would like to point out is that it is also a condition imposed on men folk, that they keep their eyes lowered and not ogle women. All muslim men will do good to abide by this as well.

Brother i think you are wrong.As far as i have studied, there is a minimum requirement for women to have satr.This includes covering their hair. It might not be a hijab, may be a chaddar, or some other form of covering, but this is the minimum requirement. You cant practice islam with a choose and reject attitude. The jews did that, and if you read Sura Al Baqara, it says that Allahs punishment for those who chose some of his commands and disobey others is utmost depravity and humiliation in this life and severe Azaab in the life here after.
It is important for all of us to understand this. Islam is a total way of life.You cant have it in halves. This is the reason why muslims in todays time are sufferrring all over the world. If only we read the quran with translation, and along with a tafseer.

Women are the most oppressed by man in this part of the world. Religion is used as a tool. They are not given opportunity just by saying that they are the honour of house. And if they try to come out, bad guys take their opportunity. And irony is that we say nothing against bad guy and blame it on women. I could argue with you all night long and you will not understand. It is just a matter of what you believe in . If you believe in Allah and are a muslim , you have to obe y the dictates of the religion fully. If you dont----As it says in Quran, For you it is your way and for me it is mine.
You have to understand that you cant see a religious matterfrom the eyes of the world. Just adoprting modesty will not stop you from working should you need to, neither is beautifying your self in the eyes of men who are not your husbands/ family a necessity of work. Islam teaches modesty and avoids all routes of possible problems. As such it is obligatory on those who believe to follow what Allah commands you. The decision however lies with you.
