Can someone please explain the reasoning of this move? It makes as much sense as Bajwas extension. Such a monumental step can’t be done without some sort of explanation. Hafeez Shaikh did a decent job given the circumstances.

He played pivotal role in rolling out the construction package and was seen as someone capable to lead economy after Hafeez Shaikh’s exit. Indeed HS did a great job to lay the ground work for sustainable economic development. I just hope we don’t go back to running deficits to show short term unsustainable growth.

What he meant was ,if the govt cannot even deside on who is best to fix the economy then how are they going to fix the economy.

There are 2 main groups of economist in Pakistan Pro IMF and those who are against IMF ... Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed Khan represent the group who are not in favour of IMF ..... while another groups of economists also exist who are not in favour of IMF and want to get rid of IMF as soon as possible but accept as necessary evil in current situation .... Shaukat Tareen is part of this group.

I personally believe IK by this move want to give signal that he is not too eager to continue with IMF may be before elections we may see the PTI doing something related to this .... and IK is preparing some move in this direction before 2023 elections.

NO it will be difficult this time specially after the new purposed bill related to SBP autonomy ....

Currently we manage to gain little bit of fiscal space due to many factors which if channelise towards local economy (export oriented Industries) would help us to gain stronger economic foundations for the revival of local industry.

In fact expect some more economic discipline with focus towards export oriented Industries, ST (Shaukat Tareen) is very vocal for export oriented growth model, and expect increase of CPEC activities with special focus on the engagements Chinese investors and industrialists specially for newly developed Special Economic Zones.
