This is more of a request more than anything. I'd love to get a deeper understanding and connection with Pakistan through literature that shows the good, the bad and the ugly of the country. But this thread can also become a good resource for people looking to get a deeper understanding of Pakistan in general.

NB: Moderators I don't know which section to put this in so I put it here. If it is wrong then please move it :).

I am currently reading:

Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan's ambassador to UN is its editor and wrote a chapter in it along with Ahmed Rashid, Moeed W. Yusuf, Shuja Nawaz and 14 other writers, each writing a separate chapter. Its cost is 625 PKR in Pakistan.

I would recommend following books
1) We have learnt nothing from our history - Air Marshal Asghar Khan (late)
2) Inside AlQaeda & Taliban - Saleem Shehzad - the guy who was allegedly picked up by Agencies
3) Afghanistan : a bear trap
