Shahbaz Sharif: Another story of Money Laundering

The real problem is that all those people, like you and me, who cannot do anything; their blood is boiling. But, those, in the helm of affairs and with necessary powers, who are in a position to do something; they are cool and calm, as ever, since 1947.
People should refuse to pay direct taxes until these people are dealt with. These people are and have been taking the absolute piss.

what is wrong with the map of Pakistan?

Especially whenever, the news comes from a British media, the map of Pakistan is always distorted. And in our media the news is propagated/gobbled-up without any objection. Meanwhile GOI sues anyone who doesn't use Indian approved borders

About 2% of British population has Pakistani roots and about 2.3 % of British population has Indian roots, yet we are always the ones who don't care. What kind of fkery is this.

P.S; Sorry for being off-topic but this has to stop at some point. But this Indian hegemony has to stop somewhere. Is there more stake of UK in India compared to Pakistan? I mean why has this been happening for so much time and no one from GOP talks about it or pressurize them or sue them?
I have been noticing this for a long time and it boils my blood.

David on ARY confirming what I have written above that DFID have not denied anything from the article.
The finance director of ERRA was convicted for misappropriation and stealing from the funds and money given to the son of law of Nawaz Sharif.
The evidence is presented in a court of Law in Pakistan.

The new strategy of PMLN is: put all the blames of their past mistakes/corruption on others.

Today the leader of PMLN Amir muqam from KPK was blaming on current Govt regarding the funds for earthquake victims.

The thief has a burning hat. Woow they are a bunch of fools. We should not tolerate this nonsense by PMLN now. Enough is enough.

LONDON: UK’s Daily Mail newspaper has accused former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif of ‘embezzling tens of millions of pounds of public money and laundering it in Britain’.

Quoting Pakistani investigators, the report said ‘some of the allegedly stolen money came from DFID-funded aid projects’.

The report, titled “Did the family of Pakistani politician who has become the poster boy for British overseas aid STEAL funds meant for earthquake victims, asks DAVID ROSE”, said the newspaper was given exclusive access to “some of the results of a high-level probe ordered by Prime Minister Imran Khan”.

Daily Mail also claimed to have interviewed ‘key witnesses held on remand in jail, including a UK citizen Aftab Mehmood’.

“He claims he laundered millions on behalf of Shahbaz’s family from a nondescript office in Birmingham – without attracting suspicion from Britain’s financial regulators, who inspected his books regularly.”

The Sharif family, however, denied the allegations levelled in the report.

Shahbaz’s son Suleman termed these allegations “product of a ‘political witch-hunt’ ordered by the Pakistani government”.

‘No allegation has been proven. There is no evidence of kickbacks,’ he said.

Former minister and senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal termed the report a ‘pack of lies’ and ‘paid’. Talking to media, Iqbal said Daily Mail is not a reliable source of information and even Wikipedia does not cite the newspaper. —INP

Did the family of Pakistani politician who has become the poster boy for British overseas aid STEAL funds meant for earthquake victims, asks DAVID ROSE

  • Shahbaz Sharif leads Pakistan's main opposition party and was a chief minister
  • Up to £500million of UK foreign aid has been poured into his province, Punjab
  • But, investigators claim, his family was laundering some of the money in Britain
Meet Shahbaz Sharif. He’s the leader of Pakistan’s main opposition party and, before losing power last year, spent ten years as chief minister of the country’s biggest province, Punjab – home to 110 million people.

For years he was feted as a Third World poster boy by Britain’s Department for International Development, which poured more than £500 million of UK taxpayers’ money into his province in the form of aid.

Last year the head of DFID’s Pakistan office Joanna Rowley lauded his ‘dedication’, while her colleague Richard Montgomery gushed that under Shahbaz, Punjab was ‘reforming at a pace rarely seen’.

Shahbaz visited Downing Street when David Cameron was Prime Minister, has held talks with successive international development secretaries – Andrew Mitchell, Justine Greening and Penny Mordaunt – and hosted Boris Johnson when he was Foreign Secretary.

Last year he was guest of honour at a party to celebrate the Queen’s birthday at the British High Commission in Lahore, photographed toasting Her Majesty with mango juice.

Yet, say investigators, all the time that DFID was heaping him and his government with praise and taxpayers’ cash, Shahbaz and his family were embezzling tens of millions of pounds of public money and laundering it in Britain.

They are convinced that some of the allegedly stolen money came from DFID-funded aid projects.

Last night, Shahbaz’s son Suleman denied the allegations against him and his family, saying they were the product of a ‘political witch-hunt’ ordered by Pakistan’s new prime minister, the former cricketer Imran Khan. ‘No allegation has been proven. There is no evidence of kickbacks,’ he said.

According to the watchdog Transparency International, Pakistan comes just 117th in the world integrity index and ‘corruption is a major obstacle’ there. DFID admits it is ‘well aware’ that Pakistan is a ‘corrupt environment’. However, since 2014, DFID has given more aid to Pakistan than any other country – up to £463 million a year.
