ORAKZAI AGENCY: Security forces killed 12 suspected militants in an air raid in Orakzai Agency on Thursday, Express News reported.

Fighter jets targeted militant hideouts in the Mamozai are of Upper Orakzai.

According to sources, five hideouts were destroyed in the attack.

Earlier on February 6, eight suspected militants were killed in a similar raid. It was the fifth such attack on militants this year. According to security forces, the previous four air raids killed around 38 militants, while 11 hideouts were destroyed. However, the exact figures are difficult to verify.

Strategic importance of Orakzai Agency
Orakzai Agency is strategically an important area. Covering an area of 700 square miles, the agency shares its borders with Kurram and Khyber agencies, Hangu district and Kohat, Darra Adamkhel.

It is the only agency among seven that does not share a border with Afghanistan. Its estimated population is 450,000. Since 2010, most of the agency was believed to be a safe haven for local and foreign militants, but security forces launched an operation to eliminate them. The operation is still continuing.
Around 97% of the agency has been reclaimed from militants.

Thats where the commanders are aren't they? Mullah Toofan and Mullah Gul Zaman's areas?

They say that all the time but if it was true there wouldn't be militants even in Dabori which was said to be one of the cleared areas. Its an untruth to make Pakistanis feel better.

Infighting: 6 militants killed in clashes between rival TTP groups

HANGU:

At least six militants were killed and four were injured in fierce clashes between two militant groups in the Mamozai area of Orakzai Agency on Saturday.

A security official from the area said that a heavy gunfight erupted between fighters loyal to Mullah Toufan, vice commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Orakzai Agency, and Moulvi Gul Zaman, the TTP commander of the agency. The official explained that the clashes erupted when Toufan warned Zaman that he was going to part ways, which resulted in a heated argument followed by the heavy gunfight.

As a result, four fighters loyal to Toufan were killed and three others were injured, while two of Zaman’s fighters were gunned down and one was wounded.

“Two vehicles of the Gul Zaman group were destroyed, while two compounds of the Toufan group were detonated,” the official said, adding that Mamozai was a stronghold of the two TTP factions, who were battling each other to gain control of the area.

The official added that militants of Hafiz Ziaur Rehman from Dabori and Pir Saifur from Saiful Darra reached Mamozai to bring a halt to the fighting between the two groups and convened a jirga that was under way till the filing of this report.

Both groups shifted the deceased and injured to an undisclosed location.

A military operation has been conducted in Mamozai to clear the area of TTP militants. Security officials claimed that they have cleared around 97 per cent of the area, except for some troubled parts of remote areas, where security forces are still engaged with militants.

I wish either Commanders Gul Zaman or Toofan were killed in the fighting. Not one commander dead in the war is there?

We haven't taken down a single top commander. None of these guys have been taken down. These 2 commanders still fully control Mamozai.

In good news... atleast mohmand and bajur have been denotified as conflict zones.
