Second NATO helicopter crashes
Updated 2 hours ago

KABUL: A NATO helicopter crashed in Afghanistan's east on Monday but there were no apparent casualties, officials said, another stark reminder of the dangers of the war after 38 people were killed in an air incident, the largest single loss for foreign forces in 10 years.

Nato helicopter makes 'hard landing' in Afghanistan | World news | The Guardian

The incident occurred in the volatile Patkia province, and comes days after a Chinook helicopter crash on Friday killed 38 troops – the largest single loss for foreign forces in 10 years.

International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) spokesman Lieutenant Colonel David Doherty also confirmed there were no casualties. An investigation was under way but it appeared there was no enemy activity in the area at the time.

However, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed in a text message sent to Reuters that the Islamist group had shot down the helicopter, also a Chinook, in the Zurmat district of Paktia, killing 33 American soldiers.

This is getting grim. America is going to hit back hard.

I noticed that too, the forum is veering back towards a friendly place to discuss world defense and political issues. The Mods are doing a good job of returning this forum into what I hoped I was joining. (I have seen other forums, I joined this one because it seemed comparitivly sane)

Even more indiscriminate use of bombs and drone is always an option.

Not sure if you are a vet...but I conclude otherwise. Ifran Baloch was right, troops tend to want "payback". I hope it is kept on the level, but I remember the feeling. You want your enemy to suffer.
