SC indicts Daniyal Aziz in contempt of court case
1:23 PM, March 13, 2018
A Supreme Court (SC) three-member bench headed by the Justice Sheikh Azmat has indicted Federal Privatisation Minister Daniyal Aziz on contempt of courtcase today.
Justice Mushir Alam has announced the verdict.
PML-N leader has denied all the allegations against him
The bench which includes Justice Mushir Alam and Mazhar Miankhel during the hearing of the case last week has expressed their discontent on the Federal Minister’s reply to SC’s show-cause notice and decided his indictment today.
Daniyal Aziz’s attorney has informed the court that the media reports about his client’s anti-judiciary speeches were bogus.
“Being a parliamentarian I cannot even think of insulting the state’s institutions including judiciary”, he stated in his response.
He further stated, “Media ran my comments out of context”.
He has also pleaded the court to take back the show-cause notice issued to him.
The apex court has issued a show-cause notice to PML-N leader on February 19 over his controversial statements on media
