MUMBAI: Did Pakistan-born US national David Headley alias Dawood Gilani supervise the training camps for the terrorists who carried out the 26/11 attacks? Ziabuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal in his statement has said he had seen Headley while in the Daura-e-aam and Daura-e-khas training in Muridke.

"I used to often see a foreigner in the camp. One day, when I tried to ask someone who he was, I was told off for asking questions in the camp as LeT chief Hafiz Saeed during our first meeting had told me not to ask any questions or raise any doubts about the camp." said Jundal in his statement.

Jundal further stated that it was only in January 2010 that he learnt about Headley's arrest through the news. "Than I realized that the foreigner who used to sneak into the training camps was Headley and LeT operative Sajid Majid was Headley's operator. The statements are part of the chargesheet.

Police say this could be corroborative evidence of Headley and Sajid Majid's presence during the pre-26/11 training camps in Muridke. Headley has already confessed before the FBI and the National Investigating Agency in the US that he was in Pakistan in August 2008 to discuss the Mumbai attack and Denmark plot. Headley stated I was in Lahore and during this period I learnt that Sajid had moved to Muridke and when I went there I saw him training recruits (terrorists). One Indian possibly from Maharashtra who was considered as an asset was finally dropped as Sajid wanted to use him elsewhere I have no idea what happened to this Indian boy.''

Just a month prior to Mumbai attack, Headley met Hafeez Saeed who told him that Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray needed to be taught a lesson. Headley than asked Saeed to give him six months time to work on Thackeray.

The Mumbai crime branch on Tuesday filed the 14,676 pages supplementary chargesheet against Jundal.

Jundal fled to Pakistan in 2006, after the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) started looking for him in connection with the arms haul case. In Pakistan he joined the terror outfit Laskar-E-Toiba (LET) and never turned back. He was arrested in Saudi Arab and was deported to India on July 21 this year.
