It will be a gift for the people of Pakistan. The adventure will allow us to explore the beauty of Baluchistan, Sindh, Iran and unexplored areas of KSA.

I guess you've miss understood ... it's the project Under which the Hajis will travel to Saudi Arab like they are traveling in domestic flights and no immigration process will take place at Jeddah airport because all the immigration process will take place here in Pakistan hence saving time and trouble on their arrival at KSA.

You are very close to the truth, for some people, that is, all it is, a shopping trip.
Instagram hastags and selfies.

That is now the status of the pilgrimage for many of those who can afford it.

Usually those who can’t afford it are ones going out there quietly.
Among them are also the beggar mafia and drug dealers, all of which play into the constant degradation of this “Industry” of religion

You know this is a dilemma, one faces there when approached by a beggar - what to do? Are the genuinely needy? Do you want to judge someone for a 15~20 riyals? IS 15~20 enough, maybe a hundred or two would be better?

ISLAMABAD:

A 51-member delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived here on Sunday to review the arrangements made to assist Haj pilgrims under pilot project “Road to Makkah”. The team will extend immigration clearance after scrutinizing the travelling documents of the Pakistani pilgrims at Islamabad airport.

Under the “Road to Makkah” project — that has been initiated by Saudi Arabia to facilitate Muslim pilgrims — all immigration requirements are fulfilled at the airport of origin. The project also includes other Muslim countries, like Indonesia and Malaysia.

The project is initially being launched in Islamabad and will be extended to other cities later on based on its success.

Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs M Mushtaq Ahmed, Joint Secretary Zeenat Hussain Bangash and other high officials welcomed the Saudi delegation.

In a major development, the delegation also brought with them the immigration system in a special plane, which will be installed in the departure lounge of Islamabad airport.

A spokesman of the ministry said that the team will remain here for two months and work in three shifts to supervise the project.

Ministry of Religious Affairs Director Media Imran Siddiqui informed that in the first phase, the facility will be provided at Islamabad Airport, which gradually will be extended to all cities of Pakistan.

According to the ministry, ten Haji camps had become functional across the country. The Hajj flight operation will also start from Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta, which will continue till August 5.

It may be recalled that “Road to Makkah” project was announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his maiden visit to Pakistan in February at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan to save Pakistani Haj pilgrims from immigration hassle at Saudi airports.

Under the ‘project, around 20,000 pilgrims will get the facility of immigration at Islamabad airport, while the programme will be extended to Karachi and Lahore the next year depending on its success.

To oversee Haj operations starting from July 4, Advisor to PM on Establishment and Coordinator for Haj Operation Mohammad Shehzad Arbab and other officials will visit Islamabad airport on July 3.

Pakistan Set to Expand Road to Makkah Project

Prime Minister Imran Khan to Inaugurate 'Road to Makkah' Project Next Week | propakistani.pk

Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has tabled a summary before the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to expand the Road to Makkah project.

The initiative had begun in 2018-19 to ease the Hajj journeys of pilgrims from various Muslim countries to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Under this initiative, all the immigration requirements will be completed at the pilgrims’ airports of origin to save them time upon their arrival in the KSA.

The government of Pakistan had implemented a pilot project in 2019 at the Islamabad International Airport in the first phase and now plans to extend the facility to Lahore and Karachi.
According to the ECC handout that was released after Wednesday’s meeting, one of the prerequisites for the scaling up of the project is for the KSA to grant a special exemption on the import of the technical equipment in Pakistan.

The handout added that the committee is considering the ministry’s summary, and will make a decision in this regard soon.

Note that Pakistan had wanted to expand the Road to Makkah program last year but the plan for it had not materialized as the Hajj pilgrimages had been performed on a limited scale due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
