It is acceptable to spend money but as muslims we should not waste. We as muslims do however have the right to spend our money as we wish as long as we are not violating any rules. We are required to spend money on supporting our family, paying 2.5% of our money which has sat for a year to the poor, we are required to feed the poor if we can not fast and we are required to make the hajj pilgrimage which costs money, and there are probably other small things we must spend money on. After spending on these I see no rules broken in living a lavish lifestyle from an islamic perspective which is important because we are talking about saudi arabia however it is not the sunnah. But it must be acknowledged that the saudis spend billions on serving the muslims during hajj and the year round umrahs not to mention the huge sums of aid saudi arabia distributes.
