Saudi Arabia Replaces Iran in Sri Lanka – Oil Deals

Sri Lanka plans to increase oil imports from Saudi Arabia and in case it had to stop importing oil from Iran, instructions have been given to diplomatic missions to find more options to import crude oil to Sri Lanka.

The United States has announced an embargo on Iranian oil imports in a bid to put pressure on Iran to be transparent with its ongoing nuclear program.

Crude oil supplies to Sri Lanka’s one and only refinery in Sapugaskanda which refines nearly 50,000 barrels per day mainly comes from Iran.

It was stated by the Minister of Petroleum Susil Premajayantha ambassadors were asked to look for other alternatives and there are plans to increase oil imports from Saudi Arabia.

As of now, Sri Lanka imports a single consignment from Saudi Arabia per year which amounts to 135,000 metric tons of crude.

According to the Petroleum Ministry Secretary Dr. H. R.Samaratunga, Sri Lanka will also start discussions with Oman later this month.

Man its become the habit of KSA to stick nose in others problem and to escalate it to Highest peak.

talk about a double-win situation for the Saudis........damn.

it seems western pressure is starting to cause major impact on Iranian oil exports.....i guess they still have some E.Asian and Latin American and African markets remaining. Not sure how long those would last either.

Let's see for how long the Saudis can keep their oil production high enough to compensate for Iran's absence. It's not a joke to add 2.5 million barrels per day to your oil production, at some point the USA will see the impacts of its decision on its own economy as well.
