The police didn't make no mistake. It would be the same if this was India, China, Pakistan or Saudia. Go tell a Saudi principle that a Shia kid has a clock like this. Hell, the kid may never come back. The point is, the law enforcement, once involved, will investigate.

The police shouldn't have arrested him. They knew it wasn't a bomb, otherwise they would have evacuated the school. They should have checked the clock and given it back to him. It doesn't matter what they do in any other country. Two wrongs don't make a right.

It actually was bigotry. Because at the end, I would have supported the action to an extent if the police evacuated the school, called the bomb squad and checked it. Here it seemed like they just wanted to hit at the kid. Im going to go far as to say the kid might be put up to it, or simply trying be cheesy... but that does not justify the actions they undertook.

If I were one of the police guys who saw this "clock", I would at first assume that it's a bomb that is yet to be assembled, maybe he had hid the explosive material somewhere and was going to assemble it...And being a young muslim teenager, it's just very likely that some local imam or internet videos etc had brainwashed him into doing something stupid...

Put that same muslim kid in pakistan and then see people's response. The same people who are defending this kid would want his entire tubbar investigated for links to terrorists....

It is not the local imam, this kid has a shrewd politician as his father. He stood twice for Presidential elections in Sudan before moving to the States. He has capitalized on this incident quite beneficially.
