US wants India to be hostile to Iran: Brinda
TIRUCHIRAPPALLI (TN): Reacting to the US government's imposition of sanctions against two Indian companies for allegedly transferring sensitive technologies to Iran, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat on Sunday said they want India also to be hostile towards Iran.
Talking to reporters here, she said that among the two chemical manufacturers, one company has supplied only antibiotics to Iran.
"The US administration which is hostile to Iran, wants India also to be hostile to that country," she said. Sanctions have been imposed on Balaji Amines Ltd and Prachi Poly Products Ltd for allegedly transferring technologies that would help in the manufacture of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
The US has also imposed sanctions against five other foreign companies, including two Russian firms, citing the same reason.
Describing the previous BJP-led NDA government as pro-US, she said BJP had no moral right to criticise the present government.
She said that the "revelation" about "mole in Prime Minister's Office" has exposed former BJP leader Jaswant Singh's hypocrisy.
She also flayed party leaders A B Vajpayee and L K Advani for "trying to defend Jaswant Singh".
She alleged that the Centre's decision to import wheat was taken only to protect the traders and help them.
