Samsung chief to surrender in Indian court in six weeks, says Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has ordered Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee to appear before a local court within six weeks to avoid arrest in a decade-old dispute with a supplier over a $1.4 million or Rs.8.4 crore ($1 = Rs. 60) payment.

A two-judge panel ruled on Monday that an arrest warrant issued against Lee by a local court in Ghaziabad, would not be executed for six weeks, according to an order posted on the court's website.

Lee will have to appear before the local court and can seek bail and an exemption from having to appear, the Supreme Court judges ruled.

Lee, 72, is South Korea's richest man with a net worth of $11.2 billion, according to Forbes. Samsung did not have any immediate comment on the Supreme Court order.

The Supreme Court's verdict came after an appeal by Lee, who local media said had sought to have the criminal proceedings against him dropped. The Supreme Court dismissed his petition.

"We make it clear that we have not expressed any opinion in regard to the merit of the case," the panel of judges said in its order for Lee to appear.

I have got a feeling that Indian Judges have got god Complex.

Each day they are flying further off the handle.

It would be duty of legislature ( once re-elected ) to put reign them in.

How does this becomes a Indian defense related issue?....@Robin_k Mate please post defense related subject in this section

Indian Judiciary's activism is good thing, they are bowing to no man and bringing about things other nation's people can only dream of. Case in point is the Supreme Court vs Novartis drug ruling where the SC did what most Western Leaders/judiciaries have refused to do- look out for the interests of their people (in this case Indians). I saw a lot of comments on websites reporting this outcome at the time particularly from the US applauding the Indian SC for doing the right and fair thing and being truly independent and not bowing down to the weight of pharma giants like in the US. They said they could only dream of such justice in America.....

And how exactly do you think is that gonna happen?

The judges are just doing their jobs, according to the law.
