Sai Baba or Scam Baba?

We have the same in punjab.You go to these people and they tell you someone has done toona on you pay me and ill sort it out such a con but people fall for it

Well there he was accused of being homose*ual. In that book lot of gurus were stripped...so many things are mixed up

It happens so often on this side as well.My best friend was a injecting drug user who died of aids his mum instead of getting him treated at normal hospital ran around these babas.

I personally know someone who was his follower and I must say she is not stupid or gullible. she is well educated and to be precise she was my mentor during a short trip in UK about 7 years ago.

it is ok to pass judgement from the sideline as a "neutral" but I would like to see what his followers have to say too.

I must clarify the difference between a "baba" and someone reveared at a divine level. Ram and Sita for example cant be termed baba or Masi


and re your reference to Arab Baba as Muhammad PBUH this can be taken as offensive . if you had mentioned Amir Khusru or Rumi etc as baba then it makes more sense.

being Atheist doesnt HAVE to mean that you MUST shove your NON faith up someone's faith and you MUST insult and MOCK those who believe in divinity etc.

Pakistani forum or not, one can still express his NON-faith in a much civilized manner which is not condescending and provocative. this is why I understand some Hindu members now term such atheist bullies as "Sickular"

He is very different from those babas you see in India..... He has followers from every section of the society...... For example Sachin tendulkar is a follower..... Top management of my company are devotees of him........

My understanding is he is a mix....... A fraud and a real Baba......

He become the real Baba when he help the poor, and he has been part of several welfare programme across south India..... He has his famous hospital where poor people are treated for free.....

He becomes a fraud when he really try to show that he is indeed a god....... He is a bit of a magician as well...

So it depends.... If you are follower you will see the baba as a the guy who help poor and divine person...... For a guy who hate living gods, will see all drama he does and the scams done by his ashram (which he may be involved, or may not be)

There is similar case in my state..... her name is Mata Amritananda Mayi....

What a wonderful post ! I personally do not have time for Sai Baba or other gurus since I chose to restrict my faith to the divine God in His various appearances. That doesn't mean that I have the right to criticize or condemn the beliefs of others. What turned out to be an attempt to malign Sai Baba turned into a circus of insults against the Prophet of Islam and other unnecessary statements. This forum doesn't permit religious threads for a good reason. Hopefully people will stick to forum rules or else a lot of egg on the face statements will be made.

I was like so appalled ,ididnt know how to react.
Imean the moon incident. Prophet had never asked for any monetary financial gain. It was a miracle and non muslims had still rejected it. And one could have the audacity to compare these sham babas whose cons have been exposed by his own ex believers,with an immaculate holy personality, imean what kind of human u have 2 be that u know in what high regard that man is held by muslims and u dont even have a genuine flaw to point out in him.
And this baba isnt even a hindu holy books personality

sometimes its not material gains not even fame or children. sometimes people seek inner peace and reason for life its spiritual aspect that pull people to these saints , sadhus and pirs. who don't request anything don't expect anything instead people go there to lighten up their psychiatric issues and come back much relieved (some even get free food there).

on the other hand in the modern urban society someone will go to a .shrink and pay him for by the hour

The real ones never put up such shows, in-fact they never reveal themselves to common people. Spirituality is not about monitory or other kinds of benefits but about the quest of God and complete submission to him. For a spiritual person everything is from God, good and bad. He never complaints about his suffering for he is never selective about what he gets from God.
