I admire your emotions to answer the point you mentioned about Pakistan ,We were in the process of negotiating a good number in 2005 we buy SAAB Erieye why we didnt go for Gripen as it has US engine ,for F16 we only have to work with US but for gripen we have to work with Sweden /US both so its kinda complicated .
You really think that F35 and gripen are in the same league .I think you need to reconsider both of there capabilities .
To your third point F16 and gripen are in contention and will remain there .India rejected both in MRCA now both co are talking to put assembly line (F16 and Gripen) for Switzerland i think it was rejected (what is the current status) .Brazil got a wonderful deal it was more of a commercial than technical .
The Swedish Government rejected the idea of Pakistan buying Gripen already in 2004.

F-35 and Gripen has been competing in several deals.
Political pressure from the U.S. is the strongest decision factor.
F-16 was not considered by Switzerland, and hardly sought by Brazil as well,
so India is the only big deal where they were competing.
India rejected Gripen E on availability. They needed aircraft before 2018.
The Gripen C would not meet their requirements.
F-16/FA-18 was rejected on trust in U.S. as a supplier.
The Swiss had a referendum, where the argument against Gripen was that the money
could be used for better things than buying fighter aircraft.
Can't see them changing their mind anytime soon.
Any new prgram to buy fighters have to pass a new referendum.
