MOSCOW (Sputnik) - According to open sources, F-22 jets cost $146.2 million, while F-35s may cost between $83 million and $108 million.

The Russian Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet will be two and a half times cheaper than US Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jet and F-22 stealth fighter aircraft, Russian lawmaker Vladimir Gutenev, a member of State Duma's expert panel on the aviation industry, told Sputnik.

"The fifth-generation fighter jets are undoubtedly competing with US F-22s and F-35s, but it is considerably cheaper even though it has similar characteristics, while in some aspects, for example, maneuverability, it does better than the US jets," Gutenev said.

Gutenev noted that four Su-57 fighters were tested in battle during the anti-terrorist operation in Syria.

"The time our four Su-57 aircraft spent in Syria definitely allowed us to get additional information on this aircraft's ability to detect [using communications systems] US F-22 and F-35 aircraft which are operating in the same airspace," Gutenev stated.

Su-57 is a stealth air superiority fighter developed by the JSC Sukhoi Company.

The maiden flight of the jet was carried out in 2010. CEO of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar said the first batch of Su-57s could come into service in 2019.

. .
Any proof of Su-57 operations in Syria? All I have seen is satellite pictures of the jets parked at an air field.

Two and a half times cheaper? Mmm....lemme see if I can do the math on this:

F-22 = $146 million
F-35 = $83 - $108 million so average is $96 million
Average of 146 & 96 = 121

2-1/2 times less than 121 = $48 million for the Su-57?

Is that even possible, Vladimir? Come on, maaan.

You see how Russian talk about how more maneuver their Su-57 but dare not claim their aircraft is more stealthy. More or less shows how unstealthy their aircraft compare to real 5th gen fighter.

Impossible.. that is almost the price of a Mig-35, SU-35 is about $60+ million and SU-57 is around $75 million..
But the real production coasts for Russia are unknown though..!?

Think about this variation:

”The time our four Gloster Gladiator aircraft spent in Syria definitely allowed us to get additional information on this aircraft's ability to detect [using communications systems] US F-22 and F-35 aircraft which are operating in the same airspace," Gutenev stated.

It is really an empty phrase that says nothing about any capability.

It could mean:

The time our four Su-57 aircraft spent in Syria definitely made us realize that we cannot detect
US F-22 and F-35 aircraft which are operating in the same airspace"

Yeah, Vladimir wasn't doing himself any favors with the 2-1/2 times cheaper comment. At least not to the informed crowd. When someone says something so outrageous like that, their credibility pretty much takes a permanent hit.
And like you said, we have examples to go by specifically with the Su-35, and we can look at that cost which reflects its production costs as well, which in the case of the Su-57, has to be higher. There is no way it could be lower. Even on par doesn't make sense. So I would say it will probably be somewhere in the vicinity of $90 million per bird.

Savage.

Only about 60 Su-57 will ever be built like Rafale and Typhoon. Considering only 187 F-22 were built and Russia has a third America's population, 60 Su-57 sounds about right.
