According to information that surfaced back in 2009, the Russian Defense industry has revived this project, and it is also well funded by the government, the mission of this airborne laser is to blind optical sensors of a satellite or otherwise disrupt its operations, another interesting fact this project is nearly 30 years older then the YAL-1 Airborne Laser program by the US.
