What's new

Russia stops buying US chips! Signs chip cooperation agreement with China!

China can independently develop/mass produce the 7nm chips thanks to its huge domestic supply chain & ecosystem.

Huawei has set its goal for the mate 60 to 100 million by 2024, so another huge slap in the face for the US who previously bet that China cannot mass produce the 7nm Kirin 9000S.

Russia needs the technological transfer of 7nm/14nm/28nm for both military and civilian use.

China is asking for something in exchange; Russia needs to be 100% supportive of China's geopolitical goal.

USA is decoupling with China.

It means it gives China a wide open door to develop its own technology.

And export it to whatever countries China want to export.

Like for example Russia and Iran.

China should work together with Russia and Iran in IT and AI development.

Transfer of the semiconductor technology means that China/Russia/Iran will have to forge an official alliance.

This is 100% strategic; as meaningful as the transfer of the nuclear technology.

EU/Japan/South Korea/Taiwan can never betray the US because they have been integrated into the US ecosystem.

Vice versa, Russia and Iran need to integrate into China's ecosystem by forming an official alliance.

Chinese chips will occupy all markets outside west

But US never really transferred its AI and chip technologies to its allies.

The US cannot 100% handle the entire procedure from chip design to chip fabrication to lithography machine like China is doing right now.

The strongest criteria for the US is the chip design, whereas their weakest point is the chip fabrication.

Without Taiwan and South Korea, their fabrication capability is even much weaker than China's.

As for the EUV machine, the US controls the core technology of the EUV light source, and China has become the second country in the world who has mastered this core technology, and this means that China's EUV will also emerge in the near future.

The US is definitely the strongest western country in the semiconductor that can control many critical technologies of the entire procedure, yet they still don't possess the entire supply chain to cover everything within their ecosystem.

China right now has the entire supply chain to cover its own ecosystem, and we would be happy to see that our ecosystem can expand into the rest of the world.

Chip fabrication is kind of a tough work. Only East Asians can handle it. The fab technologies were developed by East Asians themselves. Not by US. US can not own all chip related technologies because it doesn't have the capability. China has the capability. And China doesn't need to cooperate with any country. Just selling finished products is fine.

True, but the only benefit to cooperate with Russia is to strengthen our current ecosystem, even we have currently become 100% self-sufficient.

Since within the border of Russia/Ukraine, there is a lot of critical raw materials like neon, so to form a semiconductor alliance with Russia would allow our current semiconductor ecosystem to gain a strategical leverage over the western semiconductor ecosystem led by the US.

Right now, it is impossible for Russia to cooperate with the West, but we can let Russia to access from the chip design EDA to advanced fabrication process, also the DUV machine, and soon the EUV machine.

We will make sure that more countries have adopted our ecosystem and standard.

Chinese chips will also occupy much of the markets in the West as well

Oh noooo, the world is coming to an end

The russians can’t make chips. They rely on imports.

The nicolaus coming. Russia will eventually import toilet paper from China. The russians just withdrew from nuclear test ban treaty, from conventional weapons control regime, they are going to focus on making military hardware, they not going to make anything civil goods.

Just as it has always been.
