Russia interested in construction of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline

TEHRAN, September 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia shows interest in constructing a gas pipeline to Pakistan from Iran, Iranian media reported September 20, citing Asghar Soheilipour, head of National Iranian Gas Company’s investment committee.
Russian companies have expressed their preliminary willingness to participate in the project and the Iranian side is waiting for them to discuss the issue in details, Soheilipour said.

The Iranian company plans to build three internal gas pipelines that will allow it to increase gas exports to Pakistan. The project will require $700 million of investments.

Iranian, Pakistani FMs call for finalizing IP gas pipeline

NEW YORK- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz in a meeting in New York underlined the need for finalizing Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and security of borders.

During the meeting the two sides discussed the lasted developments of the West Asia, Afghanistan and Iran-P5+1 talks as well as mutual cooperation between the two countries, Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported. The Iranian and Pakistani foreign minister also underlined the need for increasing the trade transactions volume and strengthening cooperation between the two countries' trade ministries and their interior ministries to increase the security of the borders to prevent drug trafficking, illegal trespassing and activities of the terrorist groups.

They said the momentum generated by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's visit to Iran earlier this year should be maintained through enhanced interactions between the two countries at every level.

They also exchanged views on regional situation.

I really don't understand, on one hand nawaz is saying that we don't have much money to make gas pipe line and on other hand he is wasting billions on useless roads and festivals. He should focus on investing money on positive things.

Pakistan should certainly get this project, I think this project can be a milestone in our history we should get this done.

How? Just because you say so, does not make it so. Prove it.

Build the dam pipeline, Oman already planning to build one under sea and sell gas with omani tag on it. What the hell Pakiatan is doing.

If KSa want to stop, then try to lay oil pipeline in Pakistan, and allow Pakistan to get free oil 2-3 lac for atleast 5-6 years.. by that time Pakistan would be able to capitalize their shell reaources.

But only since KSA will be mad on us is not an excuse to not to build. Rates of using irani gas for powerplant will be cheaper as compare to oil.

I know iam talking FOOLISH ....right now..But i want suggestion from all of you
Why we cant have Gas from SAUDIA?? .they used to give us OIL for free on many Occassions in Past??

By doing this we can definately avoid One Big Monopoly , Why not build all possible means to have our supply in excess

a) with TAPI (right now the only choice we've)
b) with IRAN (later w.r.t Int.Pressure)
c) KSA ?? (why not cash KSA concerns with Iran) ??
