Russia does not see itself as a mediator between India and China, a senior diplomat said here on Friday.

Russian Ambassador to India Alexander M Kadakin said here that recent developments (Chinese incursion in Ladakh) were “unfortunate”, but China and India successfully sorted them out.

“Things that happened between both the countries (India and China) were very unfortunate. It is very good that both the countries sorted out the issues without any force but with negotiations,” Kadakin said, talking to reporters.
Responding to the question whether Russia could mediate between the two countries as all the three are a part of BRICS grouping, he said, “Russia does not have a role to play as a mediator between both the countries which are part of BRICS.

“We always want to see India and China as friends,” he said, adding that the border disputes had been inherited from the past.

Russia welcomed the way the things were settled between the neighbours, he said. “We think it (negotiations) is a good way to settle bilateral issues.”

The BRICS (comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) as an international association was growing from strength to strength, he stated.

The Ambassador was here on the occasion of appointment of his country’s ‘honorary consul’ for Goa, which has become a favourite destination for Russian tourists.

Russia giving the cold shoulder to their number one customer India. Looks like you can buy Russian military hardware but you can't buy Russian political influence.

India's policy is simple.India doesn't want a mediator, they want to solve it bilaterally, just like Kashmir issue or be it border issue with China.we don't want to play by other's rule, unlike some...

Russia we know that & we don't require any Mediator, as a Nation we are capable enough to handle our affairs...

Not that it matters but since it has been raised - Which part of Post No 1 gave the impression of a Cold Shoulder ?

How many ambassadors are there in Pakistan who are ' Honorary Consuls' to a State in Pakistan ?

Are they? Or are they just playing it safe in front of the media, to not offend Chinese or Indian governments? Think about it logically, Russia needs China and India, not only as customers of their products, but to remain a political world power, since all 3 are crucial in the BRICS and to pose a counterweight in the UN against NATO policies. So any "real" issue between China and India is completely against their interests and if such sitiuation will come up, Russia surely will put it's political weight in to settle things on both sides and in case of any serious threat to India, Russia has not only stated, but also shown in the past on which side they are.

Are you suffering of any kind of night blindness type of stuff? You read the article? If you have nothing to say... You got license to troll?

Is it so? You forgot that in 1971 there were two Nuclear Submarines following USS Enterprise.. Between India Never sought any mediation for ANY of its issues..... It is mockery of Pakistan's thinking as they want someone else to mediate.

It is a wild question from a news reporter! Don't go too much into it!
