ZHUKOVSKY (Sputnik) – Russia has completed the upgrade of all of India's Ilyushin Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft to SD standard, Nikolay Talikov, Ilyushin general designer and deputy general director, said Wednesday.

"We have completed this work, all five of the Indian Navy's aircraft have been modernized to SD standard," Talikov said at the MAKS-2015 International Aviation and Space Salon.

The (SD)Sea Dragon system is supposed to track 32 targets simultaneously (ships, submarines, mines, aircraft) within a 320-km radius, with aerial target detection up to 90 km away.

What's the point of upgrading the IL38
When the Navy has decided to scrap the upgrade of the Tu-142.

The Bear is a far more formidable platform with a range of 9500 km and 12500 Kg payload.
At one point, it was supposed to carry air launched Brahmos and Nirbhay. But Navy decided in favour of the cheaper to maintain P8I with Air launched Harpoons.
A missile that won't even scare PN, let alone PLAN

Don't jump the gun, mister...
The Tu-142 Bear has its own utility while the Il-38 has its own. While both perform different roles in the IN. That is still unchanged.
Now, the Harpoon is not supposed to scare anybody, its job is to simply attack surface targets; which it does. Period.

harpoon won't scare PN or PLAN  just cause it's not supersonic doesn't mean it can't blow a giant hole in any ship.

PN not scared of Harpoon? well then it must a joke of a Navy. Harpoon/SLAM/SLAM-ER/Exocet etc. are combat proven missiles capable of punching significant holes on surface targets, just because there are air defenses doesn't mean they can't hit. Besides what is the quality of PLAN's air defense missiles?

Is harpoon sold to Pakistan? If yes, then I am guessing he meant that Pakistan already operates the missile so has information on its operation.

Well, PN has more harpoons in stock than IN

but they are of 1980s vintage with a much shorter range, But PN is known to have modified them for Land Attack roles, similar to what IN did with the Klub S missiles
