Guwahati (Assam), July 29 (KMS): Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, has said that the extremist Hindu organisations Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal are communal forces which are bent upon disturbing peace in the his state.Tarun Gogoi in a statement issued in Guwahati said, “Both these communal forces have a tacit understanding with the opposition All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).”

He however did not compare the RSS and the Bajrang Dal with outfits like United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi apologizes for 'dancing with girls'

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi apologized for dancing with girls of tea garden workers community at a function in Golaghat district on Wednesday when the nation was in mourning as a mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who died on Monday while delivering a lecture at IIM-Shillong.

The Opposition in the state lambasted Gogoi for not showing the minimum respect to the former President. "On Saturday he (Gogoi) lost his close friend and former union minister BK Handique and on Monday we lost our former President and here is a chief minister who is busy dancing and playing golf," state BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya said.

Soon after the dancing at an inaugural function of an amalgamated plantation hospital at Hatikhuli in Golaghat district, Gogoi, an avid golfer himself, opened a golf course at the new Misa Club by teeing off and soon after the images were flashed in local TV channels, bitter criticisms poured in.

Gogoi as candid as always later said, "I did a mistake by dancing at a function. I should not have done it when we are mourning APJ Abdul Kalam's unfortunate death. I apologize for this. The golf playing and sports aren't enjoyment though."
